thinking about getting an ibanez

hi guys, ive played acoustic guitar for quite a while now.. and im now thinking about converting to electric guitar... things to note: i have almost no prior knowledge about electric guitars, on a tight but flexible budget of $500 - $600...



anyone kind and patient enough to enlighten me on any good guitars to get? and also about the basics of electric guitars, humbuckers and stuff like that (i have no clue about these terms)...



oh yeah, i have this unexplainable inclination to ibanez guitars...

and i would like to play rock, hard rock, punk and stuff like that... distortion stuff in short...

Is this inclination a result of trying these guitars in the store? If it is then you are on the right track. If it’s an urge after hearing what others say about it, then rethink your consideration. However, do try other brands to compare the sterngth & weaknesses of the ibanez. I’d advise you to get any current (2003) models if you are particular about trem reliability. The new Edge Pro/ Edge Pro II for 2003 are wise revisions by Ibanez to improve their entry level units.



If you are getting a used unit, watch out for pre-2003 models which are equipped with the TRS trems. There are countless forums elsewhere highlighting its dud properties. Otherwise, there are other models that’ll suit your budget. The SA models are value for $$$ IMO. If you don’t whammy, then the RG 321 fixed bridge model might just be the ticket. It lists for $550 (not sure if it includes a bag) so after discount + GST, it might very well be a sub-$500 guitar.



My RG 1550 has Seymour Duncan pickups in it & handles metal/ fusion/ clean tones very well. However, it is also attributable to the amps you plug it into. I’ve been having good times with Ibanez, maybe that’s why I own 7 of them…
