Things Every Drummer Does

Usually that someone is a better drummer that just makes us wanna to play even more
"Damn you, Mr. Neil Peart!!! Someday I'm gonna be better than you!!!" :smt021

What a nice dream.

drummers have our own language .. we speak a special type of words that every drummer would understand - "brrrrr cock" " clank clank kong " bom bom pak bom bom pak " U NOE WAT I MEANS HAHAHS

this happened to me. You know you are a drummer when the bassist hollers "OI! He meant me lah! you kick so loud for what" during soundcheck and the soundcrew laughing their heads off.

- Most bands take us for granted...and regret it the second we're gone

Actually i feel that the drummer is extremely important in a band. Imagine a gig without a drummer but a drum machine 8O . Yeah see how mike portnoy owns in dream theater! BTW i play guitar...

ya man i once got laughed at by a buncha girls in the mrt.

i was visualizing (complete with double kick) myself as dave lombardo when i listened to slayer at the time.

dumb girls....

Lol chud, its their ignorance and their loss. They laugh laugh laugh, bet they can't even do basic 1-2-3-4 properly lol.

hahas yeah man .. 1,2,3,4 then out ... ignore them .. but the best is don't do that outside ... i walk to sch everyday and listen to my mp3 on e way there , some songs just make me feel like playing .. but .then mrt so many ppl .. lols must CONTROL ..hahas in class .. my pens , pencils (there is a rubber on top ) IS MY DRUMSTICKS HAHAHS .. anything can be my drum sticks when there are no sticks around hahas
my friends always scold me for making so much noise ...

aww. man the irony!

yea i'm like that too. except for the last point. i don't take off my shirt during gigs. hahahaha!

i'm somehow surprised that i'm not the only one who feels like this! hahaha

Haha! I was at this other forum called Drums My Life and I saw this thead:
http://www.drumsmylife.com/things-every-drummer-does-vt6724.html

Basically, things every drummer does are:

- When our favorite song comes on, we start air drumming and don't even realize it
- When we here someone talking about drums, we can't help but give our 2 cents
- When we're talking w/ other drummers, no one else has a clue what we're saying
- Absolutly anything (table tops, books, our laps, walls, floors) might as well be a drum set to us
- It drives everyone around us nuts
- Every musician says the instument they play is best...but we know which one is REALLY the best
- When asked why we left our last band it's always "Cause everyone else was a dick"
- We bitch about having to haul our gear to gigs, but we wouldn't trade it for the world
- We make it look easy
- There's no argument like Zildjian vs Sabian
- ...except maybe Birch vs Maple
- Trashing our set is like slapping our mama...that just AIN'T GONNA FLY
- We know the difference between a skilled player and a loud player
- No one else knows how retarded someone looks when you get pissed off at them for denting the shit out of your new set of freshly tuned drum heads and asks "Dude, whats your problem? Whats the big deal?"
- When we see a good drummer play, that's all we see
- When we see a crappy drummer play, same thing
- Most bands take us for granted...and regret it the second we're gone
- People can't seem to understand why we'll play $350 for a round piece of metal or $1500 for a set of shells
- We all have somewhat big heads and need to be put in our place sometimes lol
- Usually that someone is a better drummer that just makes us wanna to play even more
- Blisters and calases are a small price to pay
- You know who the drummer is after the show...he's the guy with his shirt off, pouring w/ sweat and rubbing his wrists

Quite funny!!! A lot of it apply to me. HAHA!

its sooo damn true!!! i agree with these...

- Most bands take us for granted...and regret it the second we're gone
well, true =\

- People can't seem to understand why we'll play $350 for a round piece of metal or $1500 for a set of shells
my friend says im nuts to pay 27.80 for a pair of wooden sticks with some latex at the bottom. hahaha

- Usually that someone is a better drummer that just makes us wanna to play even more
absolutely. Inspired to drum, Drumming to inspire. wooo

- Blisters and calases are a small price to pay
i think these are common injuries...some say its due to wrong gripping techniques, is it?

- You know who the drummer is after the show...he's the guy with his shirt off, pouring w/ sweat and rubbing his wrists
YOSHIKI

btw, happy chinese new year to fellow DXS members and everyone in soft!

U know how it feels when drummers have a song and everyone else in the band thinks we're a joke? For that reason, I thank God for Dave Ghrol for giving us hope and making the drummers look so cool (for fronting Foo Fighters)!
