Thickness of picks

For electrics: Higher the gauge, higher the pick gauge.
Acoustics: Usually soft.

But really dependant on what genre you'd be playing. Adapt and adjust.

i personally like thin picks. i think picks above 1mm are uncomfortable to play wif. duno y. mayb juz a personal preference. oh and anyone use those tear drop shaped picks? used to use them but kinda fall out of ur hand quite easily.

u mean those stubby picks? i tried them b4. not my type of picks. haha.
i prefer using something simple such as the jim dunlop M ones.

Teardrop picks :

As for me, I prefer 2mm Stubbies. I originally used Jim Dunlops, but due to influence (;) we know who) , I got used to playing with stubbies.

Basically, the harder the pick, the harder you can snap/accent the strings. Also, playing fast requires a rigid pick, or else it might hinder motion and make things troublesome :).

It all boils down to personal preference, style of music and song.

the harder the pick, the harder you can snap/accent the strings

You're probably gonna require thicker strings instead of lighter picks if you play that aggressively hehe

Well if I were that aggresive, I'd start biting the strings like somebody we all know :) (Hint: NEOCLASSICAL!!)

Hi

You guys tried jazz surfpick ?
www.surfpick.com
It's abt 1.5mm-2mm but it's made of hard wood , lignum vitae.
I used Dunlop JazzIII but stopped using when I got this pick frm States.
It does wonder to your original tone and ur pocket..it quite expensive.

I asked my pal in States to buy it & delivered to me. The owner of surfpick does'nt sell his picks outside States cos dat wood is an endangered species.

holy cow. so ex? is it really that good?

Hard, firm, thick picks, always. I can't stand a flimsy feel of the pick, it makes me feel I don't control the guitar.

Yeah jay is it really tt gd? i like tempted to buy just cos its so ex hahaha. How does it compare to your other favourite picks?

I've seen bone and marble picks around in Singapore but the prices are really expensive.

Looks nice, feels nice. But it will be a waste if you lose it. :?

I was using Jazz III picks but I changed to Jim Dunlop riffs.

On 9s

I live off the Jazz III picks. hahahha gives me everything i want. but of course it depends on what im playing.
