The Problem

Everytime someone posts new material here like musical notations, almost no one replies, and I don't think there's more than 2 or 3 people who actually found it useful.

I'm not angry or anything. This is a serious question: Why is it this way? Is it because most of the drummers who visit soft cannot read music? Is that the reason? If so, then give a reply, then maybe we can all use tabs instead, or at least give a basic crash course on how to read music.

Coz if hardly anyone can read the notations then I fully understand that my attempts at sharing anything would be worthless.

I've wondered the same things before, and I had some conclusions of my own, which may or may not be true, just possibilities. I believe most here can read.

- Some might already be working on some syllabus with their teacher etc. and thus not too keen to explore something new until they're done.

- Or sometimes people just don't reply, lots of lurkers?

- Some might have things they're already working on themselves, and will come back to it when they've got space for new stuff.

- Some might have seen the same things before and don't feel a need to comment

- Some might just simply not be interested in what is posted unless it's a particular genre they like.

i think there are people who read and can make use of it, whether they posted a reply or otherwise.

in any case, as long as at least one other person finds it useful, it would have been great anyways.... yes/no ?? :lol:

True, but I've always wanted to find out whether the people here can actually read the stuff that's posted. I hope that those who can't read will at least notify the forum here, then we can work something out. It's not something embarrassing to admit, I couldn't read when I started drumming either.

yeahhh... in addition, maybe at the next meetup, we can ask the bros show of hands who wants to learn about reading (more tactful than explicitly asking who can't read) then those bros that know can share their stuff on reading...hehh

Agreed....

We have to promote to non-readers that there's nothing daunting about learning how to read. In fact it will help them in their studies in drumming whether with a teacher or alone....
