THE OFR HAS BEEN IMPROVED!!!

trem block

I have some Questions:

1)What are the different types of trem block materials
2)How do they differ the sound?

What are the improvements of the ping floyd rose:?:

Thanks :!:

1) Anything! There's steel, brass, spewter... anything :)

2) Steel is generally brighter, thin sounding, resonants well. Brass is warmer, rounder, not quite as thin sounding as steel, resonants well, pricy. Spewter (Ibanez edge) has a dulled treble reponse, more mids and bass, pseudo "warmth" and thickness, cheap. SOmething like so...

Ping manufactured OFR has brass trem block. From the pic, it looks better made than those schaller manufactured OFRs... the saddles are seated well, and the chrome is even.

IMO, go for the Gotoh Floyd Rose still. ;) Cheaper and tops the OFR anyday.

Hi guys!!

I've been trying to get info to replace my ILT1 trem on the PGM3 but to no avail.

Do you know anyone that has had the ILT1s replaced? if there is, with which trem? Does the gotohs fit into the cavity of the PGM3?

Thanks!!

i think debating the material the trem block is made of is splitting hairs really..material density matters to a certain extent but i think overall mass has most of the effect tonally. can you actually hear the difference yourself?

i have one guitar with its trem blocked, firstly a temp job with a 9v battery wrapped in masking, and then a custom sanded block of basswood. even though the basswood block fitted better and i put much more effort into it, i was somehow convinced the use of th 9v battery sounded more resonant.. however, my friend couldnt tell the difference between the two at all.

its like the whole eric johnson pedalboard arrangement/carbon battery deal.. largely psychological i guess.
