The next saviour of the metal scene?

in my opinion the 'core' scene is nothing but a recent trend,
something like neu-metal except it just got bigger.
the metal is still progessing, and once in awhile something new pops up,
thus seeing metal back in its roots would be hard, almost impossible perhaps...
yet, the future of metal remains to be seen.

Lamb of God is in nowhere metalcore. I suppose that the only logical explanation I can offer is due to the fact that they tour alot with the current 'hot' metalcore bands. Like God Forbid, Killswitch Engage and others.

And I honestly didn't get the vibe that the metal scene is dying actually. I think there are alot of great new bands coming up.

Yeppers.

think nowadays metal and extreme music in general is itself so fragmented into diff sub-styles its kinda hard to really imagine a current act that truly cuts across all ages/tastes the way Metallica did. LOG are big, yes, so are Killswitch, Slipknot, Mastodon, Opeth, Isis, Tool but somehow not everybody will at the same time 'get' any one of these bands...i doubt any of them has or will write another Enter Sandman........

I'm getting sick of the 'core' scene.. There's no doubt that there are good ones that i even listen... All Shall Perish, TTEOTD, Job For A Cowboy, but how overrated are they here? Very? Very likely...

Core music are too mainstream, too influenced by other genres.

Hardly our metal that we actually hear. Nope, Lamb of God is nowhere near metalcore. Some listings are just too stupid to point that out. Lamb of God has created a genre out of its own as it is very unique. But I would see it as technical death metal. But really, Randy's voice is simply good.

Metal is still there, don't worry people. There's still Slayer, there's Opeth, there's Lamb of God, there's Cannibal Corspe, there's Dark Funeral, there's In Flames, there's Arch Enemy, etc.

It seems, unlikely, very unlikely that our metal which we had learnt to appreciate would die down in the hands of metalcore, hardcore, emocore, etc.

Rock on, metalheads.

i think crossover thrash is coooooool. and i think it's catching on quite a bit in the us and europe. sure it's not the purest form of metal since it has distinct punk roots, but just look at the success municipal waste is having in both punk and metal scenes. they play crossover but they're playing wacken! wacken mahfucka wacken! and thrash metal is also becoming popular again in the undeground too. there's a helluva a lot of ol=school thrash metal bands in LA that are getting a real street buzz. check this shit myspace.com/fueledbyfire
