The next saviour of the metal scene?

Ok, looks like the metal scene is going to the 'core' scene.. so what bands can really live up to the true sounds of what metal really is?

I believe Gojira has the potential for that...

i wouldnt say its turning into core. there're alot of metal bands out there. young and old. maybe they're too udnerground/kvlt. but from what i see, its more too death metal or brutal death metal. its really rare to see bands playing power metal, thrash metal or heavy metal. and i mean REALLY REALLY rare. so i hope there will be bands who will play this kind of music and better still bring back old school thrash to the scene!

we need the old timer bands! embattled, selamat pagi cikgu, zeotz etc...

Gojira has potential.. And i believe there are many many and many other bands out there that arent core at all.. Just that core is very mainstream.

There are many bands that still play the true sound of heavy metal, its just that they are more underground with litte exposure. It just happen that the shity "metalcore" bands that gets the attentions lately like "nu-metal" before them.

Hail Death Metal!! I just cant stand Metalcore, emo........., like killswitch, .....romance .......................

Metallica will save METAL by their next album!! BELIEVE IT, THOU NAYSAYERS!! muahahahahahaha!!!!!

I second the vote for Lamb Of God, but to think of it they already revived it... but if you wanna talk about true metal... I would say the new re-invented Cannibal Corpse, Decapitated, My Darkest Hate & Vader... I know they have been around for some time, but they keep reinventing themselves to great effects... Another band that has the potential would be Arsis... They're slowly starting to garner great reviews...

i thought this was about the local metal scene??? paisey.

then i'll asy DESTRUCTION! although old, they kept true to their thrash roots. expect a kick ass album from them, Thrash Anthems. a remake of their best songs.

thrash till death!!!

Cannibal corpse sounds pretty much the same as brutal as ever.. There're still so many bands just that they are all underground.. And i agree about LOG.. I think they're nowhere near metal core, they sound thrash.. But all the core scene people are listening to LOG actually..

rx7, listen to alot of metal songs from different country and maybe you can tell the difference. log just sound american to me. for example, tuetonic thrash and bay area thrash. you can tell the difference.

is the metal scene really in jeopardy?

what i really notice is the coverage of popular metal bands, the current proponents propelling a different derivative from yesteryears' generations. hoping a total resurgence of past metal outfits is quite unrealistic because the current metal fans can't really relate to them in general. only cult followers of these outfits will bother more than anyone else.

we must not be too accomodating to what the media puts forth- Gojira is a good band per se, them being the singular saviour of metal is quite far fetched. they are no doubt the band of the moment but not a conclusive representative of what's to come.

haha listen to something like sodom then listen to slayer... All the naysayers who say LOG sound metalcore or stuff like that, i think they're just reading too many 3rd party opinions or reading too much of blabbermouth site's comments... they dont sound one bit like metal-core stuff that is plaguing our earth... they're most post-thrash, technical thrash... abit pantera-ish, abit sadus-ish and abit of metallica... but all around i think its safe to say they carved a semi-genre all on their own and praise be with them for it... If metalcore mallcore kiddycore kids wanna listen to it then so be it, but LOG rules and its all about the aggression and the booze!

Ah i understand what you mean bro ironcross.. Like listening to Polish death metal to american death metal :D To me, its somehow the same because its generally under the same genre just sound a little different sometimes.

Motley Crue?hair-metal!!haha,jus kidding folks.

The black metal scene is also re-inventing itself so bands like Satyricon are sounding more accessible yet staying true to their roots
