Wenger - I’m not afraid to spend this summer

Arsène Wenger is not afraid to spend his available transfer funds.

The manager has made no secret of his desire to add to Arsenal’s first-team squad in the summer after watching his side fall just short in the FA Cup and Champions League this season.

There is money for Wenger to spend on new acquisitions and the Frenchman insists he won’t hesitate to use it.

“I don’t complain about the money I have and I am not afraid to spend the money when I find it,” he stressed at Friday’s press conference.

"It is not true [that I am afraid to spend]. I cannot manipulate people’s brains unfortunately. And I don’t want to in fact.

"We spent the money on Andrey Arshavin. In one day I decided to do it."

Wenger – Why Arsenal is the Club for me

Arsène Wenger has explained why Arsenal remains the Club for him.

The Frenchman’s future has been the subject of speculation this week with reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid. Wenger dismissed those rumours at his pre-match press conference, insisting he was as committed to Arsenal as ever.

The 59-year-old has been with the Club for 13 years and admits he has found the perfect match. Wenger has transformed Arsenal’s fortunes but the relationship is certainly not one-way; the Frenchman could not wish for a better working environment.

“What is so special about Arsenal? The fact that I have been reasonably successful and I always have the support of the board and can work like I wanted,” said Wenger.

“It's not everywhere you get that. It is also the most passionate country about the game. The game in England has always moved forwards and upwards.”

Wenger - I’m thankful for fans’ support

Arsène Wenger has spoken of his gratitude for the fans’ support ahead of their planned march this weekend.

The manager came under fire at a Shareholders’ Q&A last week after failing to secure silverware this season. In addition, newspaper reports linked Wenger with a move away from the Club.

But Arsenal fans have responded to the negativity. In support of the Frenchman, the Club’s most successful manager, one supporters’ group has organised a march to show their thanks.

At Friday’s pre-match press conference, the 59-year-old thanked the fans for recognising his tireless work in this way.

“When you are manager you want the support of your fans and it's good to know you have that,” Wenger said.

“In any job, most of the time it is minorities who come out with the loudest voice. The majority responds to minorities.

“I cannot ignore that some people were not happy and I can understand that. But I do as well as I can - I can't do more.

“I can't work harder, believe me.”

hmmm im not so sure in getting the next season's away jersey though. it looks abit like pyjamas but but, i'll see how it looks like on pitch before considering.

SURVIVAL SUNDAY

just hours to the important matches..

Sunderland v Chelsea
Aston Villa v Newcastle
Hull City v MANUTD
West Ham v Boro

in red those in danger of relegation..

for me, i'd say boro is most likely going to be relegated.
i think to join them would probably be sunderland.
but newcastle and hull city don't have the best of fixtures either.

Hull looks in a better position than any other relegation battler.
If they do not take advantage of manures weaken team than they can only blame themselves.

i hope newcastle get relegated. i hope they become another leeds.

would nice to see a close to 60,000 capacity stadium being used for league 2 games.

you are right. newcastle ended up being relegated..

player purge? (like leeds) [interestingly, alan smith was on the leeds squad when they got relegated. he is on the newcastle squad.]

newcastle have:

martins
owen
duff
kevin nolan
coloccini
butt
barton (whom i actually think is a good player)

i've nvr seen a team with a line up like that do so badly.

well, the fans blame mike ashley. i dont care.

i honestly expected newcastle to try harder than they did against villa. I mean the owner's done some really wth-ed things but well a team with martins, owen, duff and barton... i can't see how they could go down - mid table is already a very very bad position for them.

if shearer is kept on, they don't let go of too many players, and he is given some support and the board/owner wisens up, i suppose newcastle will bounce back up rather quickly.

except LEEDS UNITED

joey barton would actually be a good buy provided the would be manager of him can bring some sense into him.

just like if rooney was left at everton he'd probably be just as bad as barton now...

speaking of which i hope the newcastle players stay strong with their team and bounce right back into the top flight. juve did it

that's what i was thinking too.. unless there's a big superstar amongst them like cannavaro who left only to join the coming season.
