Arsène Wenger... 'there are some big games coming up'

Wenger - I don't want to talk about the title

By Richard Clarke

Arsène Wenger does not want to mention the t-word just now.

Arsenal’s 3-1 victory at Hull on Saturday meant they ended the weekend six points off leaders Manchester United. They will stay that close if Liverpool fail to beat Everton at Anfield on Monday evening.

That will represent something of a comeback given that Wenger’s men were 10 points adrift at the turn of the year.

After five early-season defeats, Arsenal were largely written off by the English media in the title race. The Frenchman still does not want to re-consider winning the crown just yet however he does suggest that the other leading teams are having their fair share of problems too.

“We do not speak about title at the moment, we just go from game to game,” said Wenger. “We on are a good run and have good momentum so let’s just keep it going.

“It is not because of the pressure we have but just because we want to keep our momentum. Let’s get some belief and keep going then see where we are in April.

“Everybody is playing against each other now. So we need to be consistent and on our toes because there are some big games coming up for us now.

“I believe that nobody is flying over the games at the moment. On Saturday Chelsea came back in injury time and Manchester United did [in] the last minute. It is good because it gives hope to everybody.

“Manchester United are in form but they won 1-0 against Wigan and against Bolton in the last minute. That indicates they could drop points. They have a massive squad but if they get injuries they will be in the same situation as us."

Robinho becomes angry kid!

Manchester City have confirmed that Robinho is no longer at the club's training camp in Tenerife. The Brazilian reportedly stormed out of the camp on Monday night after learning that the club would not be signing his international team-mate Kaka.

City's executive chairman Garry Cook told the BBC: "I do know Robinho is not at the training centre in Tenerife.

"If he has left the training ground it is a breach of club discipline. I am waiting for a full debrief."

It is believed the 24-year-old has grown sullen at Eastlands, as he has become frustrated with City's underperformance on the pitch, while his latest outburst threatens his own future at the club, with Chelsea monitoring the situation.

Robinho is believed to have flown back to Brazil to consider his situation at City, but the club have given no official reason for his departure.

Damage control?

Update.

Robinho has moved to quash speculation that he is unhappy at Manchester City after he was reported to have walked out on the club during a training camp in Tenerife.

The Brazilian was said to have flown back to Brazil after an altercation with City boss Mark Hughes, but has since maintained that he has no problem with the club, despite their failure to land international team-mate Kaka.

A statement on his website said: ''He's very happy at Manchester City. He believes in the club's project, on its promises and proposals and has no intention of leaving his new home. There has been a lack of communication somewhere, but nothing has changed.

''Since last week Robinho had asked for the club's permission to travel, in order to solve some family problems. Therefore, after training at Tenerife on Monday he left for Brazil, with his wife and baby and will be back in a short few days.

But the player has a history of problems off the pitch, with then-Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon claiming that ''his departure from Madrid [to City] wasn't just due to sporting reasons, there is something else, which I can't understand.''

Robinho has also hit out at City this season, criticising them for their "small-time mentality", which had many questioning his commitment to the club.

obviously the difference between kaka and robinho is loyalty and the lack of for the latter.

i am very much happy that kaka isn't going to man city because he doesn't deserve to go a(few) step(s) down from where he already is.
