THE FOOTBALL THREAD Vol 2

SIGH.

I'd take rio over gallas anyday, but yeah... no seriously, a REAL defender, not a defender who thinks he is a striker.

somehow, i miss senderos

i miss senderos

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHA, yes i agree with fgl. Senderos was rubbish bro. Gallas thinks he's the best and mr. big shot at arsenal its annoying. I really like toure though although he can be rather error prone at times.

lol whats with the BIG reaction! i don't know arsenal seem to be doing better with senderos on some occasions at least. SILVESTRE is just bad. Gallas has always been bad.

sigh ya sad to say arsenal's defence is dogs shit. just hearing the name slivestre makes my blood boil, manu players are rubbish la! -runs away-

sighhhh... the immediate problems are like, replace gallas, never play silvestre, get rid of bendtner, get a defensive minded midfielder (gilberto was okay-bad but we're worse off without him) and let cesc rediscover his attacking enjoyment without having to cover for the ass called denilson

Do keep in mind, Arsenal is a team in transition. They're full of young talents, and most don't have enough experience yet. If Arsenal is actually capable of keeping most of their players this season, and adding somemore quality players, I'm sure they'll be a force to be reckoned with sometime soon.

plastic i wishsshshshshs i share your optimism, but denilson doesnt look like suddenly becoming anything near to a good water carrier! and the central defence is already having a combined age of 60+ so....

Take a read.

Walcott ruled out of Germany friendly

England winger Theo Walcott has been ruled out of the friendly against Germany after dislocating his right shoulder in training, the Football Association have confirmed.

The Arsenal winger has done well for his country in recent games.

The Arsenal youngster was taken to hospital where the shoulder was put back into place and a decision will be taken on Wednesday over when Walcott will return to England.

Arsenal have been kept fully informed about the 19-year-old's treatment, with England boss Fabio Capello naturally disappointed.

''Our priority is Theo and making him as comfortable as possible before he returns to England,'' he said. ''We are all very disappointed but the important thing is for Theo to travel home and make a quick recovery.''

While the injury is a blow to Capello, robbing him of one of the few members of his first-choice side to actually make the trip, it is even worse news for Arsene Wenger.

With the Gunners' Premier League title hopes in danger of being over before the end of November, he must now do without Walcott for an extended period due to no fault of his own.

In a week when the club versus country debate has reignited passions, Wenger, one of the fiercest critics of international friendlies, is now deprived of Walcott's services for that very reason.

Last season, Derby midfielder Stephen Pearson was ruled out for a month after suffering the same injury.

Even if Walcott equalled that timescale, he would miss four league games and the rest of Arsenal's Champions League group campaign.

"During tonight's training session Theo Walcott dislocated his right shoulder after falling on the pitch," said an FA statement. "Theo was taken to hospital, where he has had the shoulder put back into place.

"Theo will return to the team hotel and a decision will be made in the morning by the medical staff as to when Theo can fly home. Arsenal's medical staff were advised of the injury soon after the incident."

Meanwhile, Arsenal's Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner feels the time with his national team in the last two years has helped develop his game.

''When I first started playing I wasn't the team player I could be - and now I am starting to adapt the way I should and have been doing well for them,'' Bendtner said on Arsenal TV Online.

''When I came in I was 18, and you are young in your mind and young on the pitch - you didn't know where to stand and what position to be in. You didn't realise that if you lose the ball you have to be the 11th defender.

''I have that in my game now, and it has changed me a lot.''

Bendtner has declared himself ready to help Arsenal find the consistency they need to sustain a Premier League title challenge.

The 20-year-old added: ''So far this season I haven't played as much as I would have liked. But I'm sure it will come and I'll keep working hard in training.''

DAMM.....ANOTHER INJURY FOR US...THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING

Gallas reveals rift in Arsenal dressing-room

Arsenal skipper William Gallas has revealed rifts in the dressing room undermining the club's current campaign and has suggested his team-mates have been unsettled by one member of the squad.

The French defender has been criticised for his leadership.

Gallas has called Arsene Wenger's side ''not brave enough in battle'' and has urged them to fight to revive a season that has already included four Premier League defeats.

The 31-year-old also claims that some of his team-mates have approached him to complain about one member of the squad. Gallas would not reveal the player's identity but revealed the team-mate to be six years younger than him.

"There are things that can't be said and can't be tolerated," Gallas said on the Times website. "When, as captain, some players come up to you and talk to you about a player ... complaining about him ... and then during the match you speak to this player and the player in question insults us.

"There comes a time where we can no longer comprehend how this can happen. I am trying to defend myself a bit without giving names. Otherwise I'm taking all the blame. It's very frustrating. I'm 31, the player is six years younger than me.

"There was a problem at half-time at Tottenham. The only thing that I could say at half-time was 'Guys, we resolve these problems after the match, not at half-time.'"

Currently there are four 25-year-olds in the squad: Robin Van Persie, Emmanuel Eboue, Eduardo and Bacary Sagna, although it is not clear who the offending player is.

Gallas also believes the youngsters emerging into Arsene Wenger's team lack the stomach required to cope with physical matches and fears that lack of fortitude could shatter their already faint title hopes.

"We are not brave enough in battle," Gallas said. "I think we need to be soldiers. We have to be warriors. There are teams who can do it well against us, and we have to be able to face up to these attacks.

"We are coming up against teams who are not scared to play football against us, who are not scared to take us on at our place, and this is becoming dangerous for Arsenal."

Gallas has yet to win a trophy since moving to Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea in 2006 and the Gunners are nine points behind league leaders Chelsea are losing four matches already this season.

The centre-back is growing increasingly frustrated by the team's failure to challenge for silverware.

"I have to win something this year. I have to win something, Arsenal has to win something," Gallas said. "It's four or five years since Arsenal won anything. That's nearly five years, and that's not good.

"For me the title is not over, it's true that we are nine points behind Chelsea, but you have to be optimistic and you can't give up.

"Four defeats is a lot, but it's a long season. I think it will be very tight this year and we will have to hope that Chelsea draw a few games and have a few defeats."

my guess would be adebayor - he's the real irritating one and semi-decent player who always look like arsenal's hero cause bendtner is just so bad!

but, in the first place, who does gallas think he is? captains don't air dirty laundry in public! if there was some sort of rift isn't it his job to make it better or try to guide the team forward regardless of the rift? or talk to wenger about it so wenger can make the decision? what good is talking to the press going to be?

like fgl said we are soooooo balloooned this season (reprased)

i would think Almunia. He's suffered a lot to get where he is (being insulted by Jens all the time) and quite underrated (MOST of arsenal's concedes are not his fault) and he is one of the oldest around and he's not ENGLISH.

I can't see Wenger burdening Fab with the armband yet, but maybe TOURE. I mean if wenger strips gallas of the captaincy that egoistical maniac would never stay happily at arsenal will he?
