Re: Best workout regime to build stamina?

Hey ;)

This looks like a very empty thread so far but I'm gonna try my luck.

Anyone know a really good workout regime to build stamina? Am doing more singing while dancing performances song and desperately need the extra stamina as the moves are quite vigourous.

Cheers x

run 4km. then do sit ups. then do the beep test. then do static hold. then do push ups. then do v man. then do superman. then repeat. HAHAHA.
ALL netball stuff man.

i use to run long distances when i was still not so lazy,
nowadays i just open guitar pro, sit down on my comfortable chair, and shred for 5 hours, then my fingers will ache like mad, well, thats my workout.

I prefer to do more weight lifting than cardio type exercises. i do cardio, don't get me wrong, but I'm generally slim so I don't want to lose too much weight or muscle through cardio. anyone heard of the spartan workout challenge thing that was so popular a few years back?

“300”
25x Pull-up
50x Deadlift @ 135lbs
50x Push-up
50x Box Jump @ 24” box
50x Floor Wiper @ 135lbs (one-count)
50x KettleBell Clean and Press @ 36lbs (KB must touch floor between reps)
25x Pull-up
300 reps total

It's not really a workout, more of a challenge, and it's crazy. All done with as little rest in between exercises.

more of it here, great read: http://www.gymjones.com/knowledge.php?id=35

you can do the following:
  • bikram yoga
  • lift weights
  • hiking
  • pilates
  • relaxation
  • interval training
  • bicycling
  • cardio-sculpting
  • swimming
  • racquetball
  • step climbing
  • wall climbing
  • team sports
  • cross-training

to build stamina you can do intervals, basically sprint for 30secs and jog for 60secs and repeat 6 - 8 times. Or just jog a few times a week. Helps to keep u in shape as well as improve stamina. But it's interesting that the reason for it is to dance and sing, pretty unique, so this may be too hardcore for that reason alone. It's like doing weight training on your individual fingers to play guitar better.

Decided to dig up this old thread because most of the threads here are about soccer, and we need some fitness threads for other sports, too.

I personally go to the gym every now and then, though I mostly stick to 5bx at home. I also cycle daily. I think my regime is quite relaxed but it really improves my fitness. :) I try to hit the gym once a week at least.

I used to go running, but cycling apparently trains the same muscle groups and seems lightyears more fun, too, so cycling is my main stamina training, and it also trains my calves. What else... cycling doesn't wear your kneecaps out as fast as jogging does, too. I'm more into mountain biking that road biking, though.

I don't know about wearing out kneecaps, to me it's just bogus stuff like what people say that squatting will injure your knees and stuff. I believe that if you have adequate rest, nutrition and form, doing such training will strengthen your body, not destroy it.

As of now my only cardio is cycling now and then and running 3km 2 times a week. It helps train IPPT and is rather intense enough to burn fat. I don't do too much cardio as I still prefer doing strength training like squats/deadlifts/bench press and military presses to gain mass and muscle. In other words, I still have that bodybuilder type mindset over the runner/fighter mindset. Other than that I hit the chin up bar and try to do 30 wide grip chin ups every few days as well as weighted dips. I hit the gym about 3 - 4 times a week since I ord'ed last year. Currently about 83kg+ since starting at 75kg. Glad to be gaining muscle, but I hate the supplement part. Protein powder and creatine just taste like crap.

I need motivation my friends. Stopped gymming for 2 weeks due to exams now everything topsy turvy from supplements to sleep to working out.
