i was like walking around then i saw this guy, wa lao, totally ripped it on the game machine. i was wondering , do you think those guys can play live sets? i think not. so whats your opinion?

edit: jia lat, post wrong section, can anyone move this ? sorry ar1

i've seen some of them.. their speed is remarkable. its crazy. however their technique seems so wrong. like the way they play doesnt look like they playing a real drumset. but i guess they can play quite well if u throw an acoustic set on them. just that the feel is totally off, i.e. like acoustic vs. electronic sets.

i got a friend that plays the drum machine to get the tabs for the songs we play. as in the drum tabs. but yeah. it does improve their sight reading a lot.

hahaha my experience tells me.. many such 'drummers' are good at sight reading hand eye coordination. yup..

but when it comes to timin no no no.. also they have lesser dynamics as the machine only asks for 'hit me' not hit me hard hit me soft.. yup..

although they have good points too like they have more creative ideas and they always play some cool shit without knowing themself.. yup

and also its for pple who play open handed.. yup..

i learnt to play from that game back in 1999. then in 2001 i switched to the real kit. i didn't understand dynamics bcos the game doesn't have any on the pads.

but in terms of beginners coordination, those gamers seriously kick ass. 8O

eh. just wondering, how do these guys practice? they always go to arcade and throw money meh? or do they buy an electronic drumset and link it up to their PS2 or XBox 360 and play ah. haha just wondering..

I think the Drum machine is good for beginner? or am i wrong?

I think its better than para2 machine or even DDR hehe!!

maybe i'm too shallow by saying this

but then, i think when given a real drumset, they's be like stunned for the first time... and also the only thing that they will play are those that they already 'MEMORIZED' from the arcade itself...

and wats more, i dont think they know how to play about the hihats too ryte...

just my opinion....

Dulltheatre is quite right. hehe.

If you went to PS Arcade, The basement one.

The drums and guitar is linked.

hehe. What if we give them real guitar to play? hehe.

Anyways, Drum machine game is quite alright. The basic is there except for the hi-hats.

HEHE

in response to DullTheater:

first time i went on the real drumset i felt quite comfortable, but the "sound" was very shocking when i hit the kit. and yes for sure the left leg is completely wasted for the game.

but regarding playng songs outside of those from the game, it wasn't a problem. once the gamer understands the many different styles of keeping a beat from the different songs in the game, it is only a simple matter of applying them to the songs he wants to play on the real drums.

eg: the game has many styles of music, from Jrock to death metal to jazz to pop. all of the hihat/bass/snare coordination played in the game is the real deal on the kit. that is probably the biggest advantage of playing the game, learning different styles and genres while having lots of fun.

i tried the game once after i picked up drum playing...
i totally failed the game...
for me its because the tune and the score are totally reading different things, and the hi-hat is too low...
i sometimes do wonder if there was a real drummer game for drummers to play... wouldn't that be fun...
imagine a TD-20... WAH!

yo myner..

do you think they will really spend so much money to make the arcade version for TD...
another thing is that, the way i see those kids play those arcade game, is like, they got no feeling at all, and they just hit and whack the whole damn thing like they just dont care....

you think they will make a TD arcade version after seeing those?

I was at the arcade at doby mrt staton ytd when i saw a guy play the drum machine, i was totally stun, he pick a swing piece and his open handed coordination was insane, he is playing 3 parts wit his right hand and his left hand was keeping time and constantly playing parts on the toms hats and snare, his legs is also mad.

i just walk away.

lots of videos on youtube of the world's best players for Drummania.

just do a search in youtube for "Drummania"

(psst... its ego-crushing to real drummers. you've been warned.)
