Spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon with eminent Taiwanese-American violinist Cho-Liang Lin on March 15 as he teams up with the musicians of the SSO to perform Mozart’s Concerto No. 4, an inspired work of great melodic beauty.
The performance at the Victoria Concert Hall also features two popular serenades: Mozart’s Serenata Notturna – with its lively country-dance finale - as well as Tchaikovsky’s immortal Serenade for Strings in C, which has become one of his signature works.
Born in Taiwan in 1960, Cho-Liang Lin began his violin lessons when he was five and continued his musical studies in Sydney when he was twelve. His early teachers include Sylvia Lee and Robert Pikler. Inspired by an encounter with Itzhak Perlman while in Sydney, he arrived in New York in 1975 to audition for Perlman’s teacher, the late Dorothy DeLay, at the Juilliard School. Within two years of his enrollment, he won the first Queen Sofia Violin Competition in Madrid and his concert career was soon launched. He presently resides in New York with his wife and daughter.
