They say that the best Taylors were made in the 90s...and i fully yet totally aggree on that statement.
here we have a 1998 Taylor 814c that was sent in...in pristine condition..even the indian rosewood back and sides are just tight grain..absolutely beautiful unlike the newer 814ce..which has wider grain..and brown dull colours..
this 814c is slightly lighter..not a forward shift X brace but with thinner but taller braces just below the X Brace...it adds clarity to the trebles...bell like yet adds stability on the bridge plate to prevent the swelling plus bridge lifting so commonly seen on the new 814ce with their so called advance CV bracing..which produces a bassier tone but structurally expect more swelling at the bridge area and bridge lifting at the pointed wings..
this 1998 814c was upgraded with a FMI compensated saddle and now fitted with the LR Baggs Anthem pickup..
watch the video and you will know how loud , clear and bell like it sounds..dynamic range of tone..
