TAIKO BELLZ + LATIN BELLZ
-Experience An Evening of Japanese & Latin Handbell Music
1) 4th Annual Concert (since 2007) performed by the MINISTRY OF BELLZ, since its
founding in June 2007. Performed more than 130+ shows in the past 2 ½ year, including
performances in Hong Kong, USA, New Zealand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan & Indonesia.
In Nov/Dec 2010 alone, totaling 52 performances in Singapore, including Universal
Studios Singapore & HDB Heartlands.
2) The MOB is the organizer of SINGBELLZ FEST, Singapore’s 1st Handbell Festival & coorganizer
of HANDBELLS ASIA FEST, Southeast Asia’s 1st Handbell Fest.
3) The art of ringing the Traditional English Handbells dates back to the 16th century in the
Churches in England. It has since been modernized by the Americans & Japanese.
Ringing in England & Australia remains relatively traditional. In Singapore, we have a
good fusion of all styles.
4) This year’s concert repertoire includes handbells music (of popular folk tunes) from
Japan & South America, in a fusion with Japanese Taiko Drums & Latin Percussion
instruments such as the Conga & Marimba. Yes, a fusion of “Heavenly Handbells VS the
Energy of the Drums”.
5) 2010 Concert conductors include:
Mr Damien Lim, 29+ (MOB Music Director)
Mdm Ikumi Tsugane (Guest Japanese Conductor)
Miss Cai Ximin, 19 (MOB Youth Handbell Conductor / VP, Marcomm)
