tabs for local songs.

I've been meaning to do and put up acoustic covers of other local bands' originals but I don't have a video camera! =(

Why don't you consider other styles other than stripping the songs down to their acoustic settings? I'm sure it will be nice but the idea is quite pedestrian. Hmm...

i managed to tab out most of the three guitar tabs of a vacant affair's the departure and crestfallen. haha. very fun to play, two awesome songs. hope they dont mind, anyone who wants them can pm me

I've done a cover of I Want You before. I remembered my basssist saying something about the bass EQ was less bassy more trebly. The bass line is quite easy actually, maybe slowing it down with windows media player will help?

Okay la... haha my previous band used it for an inter jc competition in 2006 and we won so i guess its a great song!

While we're at it, maybe you guys can check out my current band's cover of We're Not Made In The USA. Our debut performance at cj's post prom @ DXO. I sound like a cock thats why this is not going up on open mic yet... Haha.

Trasposed from G to F cuz my voicalrange limits. Didn't want to use falsetto cuz mine's not power enough

PS: Don't check out my outher videos... sound more cock.. I'll re EQ the vids soon.

Maybe we could have a section in which people post up their tabs for local songs. And they can be rated, like UG. Would be a great help to those who are too lazy to figure stuff out!

dary

good idea. but do consider fonts as well if we were to tab.

current font:
e|--------------------|
B|--------------------|
G|-----4444-6666-3333|
D|2222-4444-6666-3333|
A|2222-2222-4444-1111|
E|0000----------------|
(no sense of order)

the best font to tab would be "courier new"

yeah man we should have a section for tabs and chords just like UG. imagine how popular soft will be then man ahahha!

I don't think soft will be popular for local music tabs. Not a lot of people want to do covers of local music... Some kinda stigma that has always been around.

Why not?

I would gladly cover local bands. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. My mates and I have been trying to figure out how to play certain songs by local artistes.

I think for every local band that wants to do local covers, there're four bands who don't. And not to mention that there're not THAT many local bands in the first place...

I think if anyone wants any tabs can ask throug here la, then people can send through e-mail... simplier!

Yes, the matter of fact is that there're not many recognised bands here but much more bands which are unheard of... But, what is the matter again? I'm confused.

hi guys
new to this forums here.. i was looking around the net for chords to electrico's i want you and love in new wave.. me and my aspiring band mates are planning to do these 2 covers but unfortunately are having difficulty with the chords (due to my bad hearing) perhaps someone can teach me or let me in on the main chords for both songs? i've found i want you.. but cant seem to find love in new wave in this forums?

thanks!!

hmm... interesting concept of covering local bands work, but I just want to ask, is it agreeable with the bands themselves?

It'll be cool if we could cover bands like Allura or A Vacant Affair or Electrico, but would it be okay if we even covered it in the first place? Some bands may not mind but some may...

oh no no no.....dont get me wrong we wont perform it.. it's gonna strictly be for personal consumption and pleasure only if ever we were to perform, i think it would be quite some time and by then i hope we would've written a few originals ourselves

Lol. I'm not arrowing you. But as a whole music community, I'm just wondering whether that performing other bands work as a cover should at least ask permission first. I mean fair enough, if you only want to jam it for the fun of it, its totally fine. But what about performing it, or sticking it up on Youtube, etc.? Some bands are known to be quite against covers (i'm talking about the overseas bands in this case) and they are not fond of people covering their work. Still, it doesn't stop the people from covering it.

But this, after all, is small sunny Singapore, and the internet is so wide now. At least what I feel is that if we want to perform such covers at least have the courtesy to ask for permission

For people who want to play local songs: Go ahead and figure the tabs for the songs. But you must say who cover who.

For bands: Concentrate on your originals so peeps can tab you out.

Phrase: Imitation is the best praise/compliment. (If people imitate your work, means you are good. You should be happy and not angry)
