hey guys, i recently purchased my t-rex fuel tank junior. right now my setups

zakk wah> phase 90> coolcat TOD> GHmod SD-1> Keeley DS-1> CE-2> DD20> Amp

i was thinking of using the fuel tank to power up my phase, sd-1, ds-1, ce-2 and dd20. HOWEVER, there seems to be some problem powering up my ce-2 with my fuel tank. i countered this by trying to power the ce-2 via one spot and it works? can some one tell me whats wrong with my fuel tank/ce-2 ?

another problem was that when the fuel tank jr powered up the dd20, instead of switching on like it should, the lights and the screen flickers at the start before acting normal. was wrong with this one?!

Nothing's wrong with any of your pedals / power supply.

Your CE-2 is not being powered because it is meant to be powered by ACA adaptor, and most ACA adaptors run at 12v. It really depends on which era the pedal was made in. http://www.stinkfoot.se/andreas/diy/articles/bossadapt.htm

Easy to do a mod to change out the power input of the pedal to accomodate 9v. Ask any pedal modder, they'll be able to help.

According to their respective manuals, each power output of the Fuel Tank Jr puts out 120mA. The current draw of a Boss DD-20 is 200mA.

Result? DOH! Technically specs wise, the Fuel Tank Jr doesn't have enough juice to power up the DD-20.

If it actually works, but just starts up funny with the flashing lights, that's likely because most of the power draw is used in the powering up stage - once it's actually started up and operating normally, the current draw might stabilize at a lower rate.

As long as it works, great. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you, unless it starts to power off or just spazz out halfway through - that might happen from time to time, only if it becomes frequent then you have a problem.

If you put your CE-2 to an isolated output - meaning, its the only pedal connected to that output - does the problem persist?

I know that I can get away with the 12v thing if I have the pedal hogging one isolated output.

yeah, i can't use an isolated output on the fuel tank for my ce-2. doesnt seem to switch on or respond. but it works fine with my one spot adaptor.

Nigel, have you read Danelectrico's post? The link he posted should answer most of your question. The last 2 section should answer some of the issues you are facing.

I don't think the output produced too little power since I have successfully powered a few delays so I'm guessing it's a 12v/aca issue especially since early Boss consume quite little currents.

the 1 spot probably powers it because it's pushing crazy frakkin amounts of power. 1700mA. that thing would power up Christmas lights on orchard road. 1 spots are known to be somehow able to handle ACA stuff.

do the mod on your CE-2 and you'll be a happy camper.

I don't own a DD-20, so all i can say is RTFM

But if i hazard a guess - since you can't do both simulaneously with a Line 6 DL4, or an Eventide Time Factor, or even a stompbox Hardwire Delay / Looper DL8; so if I were a betting man my money wouldn't be on the DD-20 to do any better.

EDIT: guess what page 21 of the manual says. http://lib.roland.co.jp/manual/en/dl_06-09806/DD-20_e1.pdf the answer is basically yes and no - limited use of either sound-on-sound or delay function if you intend to use them both.

is reading the manual or using google a thing of the past these days? spending one minute on either seems to yield an answer.

Apparently daisy chaining the Ce-2 to another pedal in the chain allows it to work with the 9V supply? That's why it works w the onespot. Care to give it a go?
