I am planning to surprise a very old friend of mine with a birthday gift. But after reading the TC Electronic's brochures and the online catalog on the Vintage Series , I'm a little confused. If someone can help me explain the following, it would be great.

1) What is the difference between an Overdrive Effect and a Distortion?
2) Is there a difference between the Bass Distortion and a regular Guitar Distortion?

Is it just me but have anyone else notice that brochures and catalogs never tell you anything useful? Anniewaay...thanks in advance for your expert input!

Bass Distortion is for bass guitars. Ignore that.

Overdrive breaks up the signal into a mild distorted mode. Distortion pedals are a more intense version of the overdrive. More distortion.

What kind of music does your friend play?
