Well its Symphony X, everyone's favourite progressive metal band, after Dream Theater. However, with this release, and with Dream Theater's Systematic Chaos, DT has alot of work to do. In 2000 they released V: The New Mythology Suite, and that album was really good. And this album too, does not disappoint.

Essentially, Paradise Lost does not introduce changes to Symphony X's work, however, there has been a slight turn to a heavier side, more agressive and headbangable. The hour long experience is both inspiring and interesting, and i often go, "how the hell did the guitarist just do that?". Core elements like Rhythm Work and Lead Work of the album is just done by its lone guitarist, Michael Romeo. And it is simply amazing. Eve of Seduction is perhaps the best example of this, featuring several fast-paced, melodic harmonies, solos, and riffs, as well as frontman Russell Allen's best performance off the album.

But as with every album, there are a few fillers here and there, namely, Domination and The Serpent's Kiss. Although these are not bad songs, they tend to be too heavy, and takes away the techinical and neoclassical elements that it is supposed to represent.

For every fan of Power Metal and Progressive Metal, this album is in the highly recommended area, after you decided that you're tired of DT Stratovarius and so on.

Highlights of the album would include:
Eve of Seduction
Paradise Lost
Seven

With Eve Of Seduction being my favourite
