they may be budget but they are seriously good for their price range .. just don't get the beginner's pack you'll be fine .. even then ... the beginner's pack is pretty cool .. very solid and a decent sound .. my friend had it once ...

i tried one , didnt like it

the neck wasnt finished properly. hinders playability.

i think for slightly more , the craftsman jazz bass is a better bass. they are pretty much similar in other aspects but go for the craftsman.
