hey guys, i'm jus wonderin what are good pedals to sweeten and colour your tone? especially for a while bass solo, or boosting your freq range so that u dont get drowned out while playing metal (like adding some dist to your tone)...

how about:
-overdrive/dist/???
-chorus
-boost
-comps

tell us your rig and what's your personal reccomendation! :D

anyone using the Ibanez tonelok PhatHed7? i like the clean boost, atk1 setting on that pedal... the distortion is abit un-natural tho

put sugar and pour oil onto ur bass and the amp..

lol... im thinkin of getting the aphex bass xciter too, but i think an equalizer and compressor pedal right now would work wonders.

I used the Ibanez PD-7. I sold it within 1/2 yr as i didn't like the OD/Distortion sound at all. It was either noisy or didn't come through at all(Un-distinctive)
I prefer the Overdriven emulation sound of my SansAmp B.D.D.I

i think sweet tone should come from the bass itself. don't try to add to it.

as for coloring. yeah the pd-7 is not bad. preserves lows but the gain is abit artificial sounding but it's good for some situations. to completely kill all just go big muff into pd-7.

i use an mxr 6 band eq which (100, 200, 400, 800, 1000, 1.6, 3.2) i use to boost my bass and mids. though the extent of control is not as much as say a bass eq per se, as a stompbox it makes my two current passive basses sound a lot more than they're worth. (mexican P's and J's)

plus i got it for 60 buckeroos.
