guys, i have a question about sweeping and i wish you all can help in any way you can.

when i sweep on a guitar from the 6th string to the 1st string, after i strike the 6th string and move on to other string, how do i stop the strings from ringing after i strike them, under distortion? do i use my palm to mute them? or do i use the pinkie of my hand which is on the fretboard to mute them?

please shed some light. thank you so much

i use both, for efficiency. after striking the strings, i use my right hand to mute then, and also my other left fingers to mute the rest. must train coordination. but usually while playing bass strings i will palm mute, sounds nicer. for those big arpeggios :D

as soon as u press the note, roll ur finger across it to kind of mute it and stop it from ringing... that usually works best.. or for a more choppy sound u can just slide ur palm down after u pick across the string to sort of mute the string.

haiya..once ye get used to sweeping, u'll notice the strings arn't ringing no more. Juz go w/ the flow, sweep like how u sweep the floor at home. If you dont, start now, tell ur mom u wanna help out for a change. If ur desperate, i know a few ppl like dhalif, n a very young sweeper sofyan. They sweep the tampines highway i think  These things ya need ta watch, listen, n learn.
