Sweep Picking

Hey guys, i would like to know how long did you all get to master sweep picking?

It depends entirely on the quality (and quantity although its not quite as important) of your practice. Try to find the best teacher that you can to speed up the progress. It always takes longer to learn something on your own than with a teacher.

Hope this helps.

Mike.

lolz I think this is one topic that will be discussed forever....

sweep picking takes its own sweet time to develop....but what I would suggest is to look at some of the best sweep pickers around and notice how they use their right and left hands ...thats how i learnt:)

eg.check out...Jason Becker,Vinnie Moore,Yngwie Malmsteen,Steve Vai,Paul GIlbert,Joe Satriani(YES satch kickedass with the Mystical potatohead groove thing and cool#9),John Petrucci,Tony Macalpine blah blah.. :D

yeah, takes time to get the technique down. depends on how fast you wanna go too, but you can cheat!

ok it doesn't sound exactly like sweep picking, but sounds pretty cool too. just use the sweep arpegio shapes and play over your own delay by setting it so that your note repeats just once a la van halen/ nuno bettencourt.

sweeping wah lau...
so hard... very hard to make it sound smooth...
a lot of hammering and pull off...
damn

still sweeping (not the floor) ... notice it's more of the right hand technique and coordination with the left hand ... that's the prob ... go slow, can ... but going faster ... the right hand will sort of kana stuck at certain string and not smooth ...
