Subversion: Besides the bandit II and tube units (hybrids are alright), what else do you recommend for a 1 x 12" cone size amp?

If you've ever tried the yamaha DG amp 4x12 at the guitar77 jamming studio, that's the exact cleans that I want. Or similar to a Roland JC for that matter. Is it only possible to obtain that sort of "big sound" from a multi speaker amp?
