Swapping Out Guitar Bridge

Hi guys,

I want to swap out the tremelo bridge and pickguard from my Fender American Standard Strat. My strat is currently fitted with the vintage style synchronized tremelo.

However, I just wanted to ask if i have to take note of any specific things when purchasing a new bridge (E.g. Dimensions of the bridge) or do all strat bridges fit into all strat bodies? Does my new bridge have to be a synchronized tremelo?

I understand that there are different bridges, just wanted to know the difference between them

Thanks in advance

the am std should be a dual point fulcrum tremolo so u should swap it out for another dual point fulcrum tremolo...btw whats wrong with ur trem?? those from the am std should be pretty stable...

Hi there,

regarding replacing your strat bridge. I would recommend the trev wilkinson bridge. I think you can get from davis or swee lee. Its the best!! I had mine changed years ago, with a little routing and etc. Bring your strat to the shop, and have a look at the bridge and compare the dual points. It shouldnt be a problem. Also get the locking tuning pegs.

Yes the dimensions of the bridge are important. If the bridge you have bought is too small you might need to add wood filler to fill up the gap, too big you might need to rout.

Best is to get a pro to do it for you.
