Surprised with Swee Lee's excellent customer service

Warning! Long post! ;)

So, I've been checking some local store around Peninsula and Bras Basah from some time now to check out the Fender Blacktop which I've been eyeing now for months due to relatively low price and great price but, I'm always being put off with the jack up of store prices around here. Thanks to this thread --> http://www.soft.com.sg/forum/showthread.php/247970-fender-blacktop-price-at-SWEE-LEE-CO , I determined that they're selling it considerably lower than any other store! Even in online price in the U.S. and U.K. $700 ++ is waay too cheap :p So, I had a communication with their store rep and confirmed that I will be checking it out on Friday. So, as a supposedly Father's gift, my whole family was with me in Swee Lee as their father's gift for me! I was totally stoked and excited... I immediately went to the 'auntie' and asked about my guitar, she was a bit clueless then 'Meng' approached me and introduced that he was the one whom I'm conversing with, I was excited hoping that I would be able to try it out on the back room and rock it out.. BUT... I was shoked!! I've been informed that SOMEBODY just went earlier than me and bought the guitar I ordered!! They thought it was me!!! :rolleyes: :evil: I argued.... thinking that this is not happening... it's now or never. How can they give it to somebody else?? Silly, right... I was shocked but I just had to move on. I just gave them my contact # and agreed that I will just get it on Monday.
Then just this Saturday morning... a delivery van came and a guy with a big box with Fender logo came to my house. I WAS SURPRISED!! All along, my wife was all behind this! She actually paid the store when I was busy checking out the other guitars yesterday! All the staff their actually know it all along that I will visit at that specific time and was told by my wife to just pretend that the guitar's not available. Meng's the best actor! LOL!
So, to all the staff of Swee Lee Bras Basah, thank you so00ooo much. This is one of my memorable Father's Day surprise gift! I understand that you guys don't normally deliver your items but you still manage to provide an exception on this case. :p

and of course the pictures... :p






 
Due to management changed as SL as a whole was bought over... by a Malaysian ... so I've heard.. thus renovation works in their BB outlet coming soon & repricing of their items ... more sensible pricings... :p

thnx to me coz opening the thread. :p... i oso been eyeing for that fender blacktop. maybe this july i'll grab one of this beauty..;) since im from m'sia, its hard to get a good price for this fender (though there's a lot of music stores)..that's why i tried to ask SL from fb to this point and he's good in replying the msg....I hope that they'll open up a new branch in m'sia and give me a good price...:p

are sure that SL is going to make a new branch in M'sia?
 
swee lee price is good now the new mktg manager done a great job, i guess there is some reformation inside there swee lee = nomore overprice goods =)

A branch in Malaysia? Beats me!!
New owner, New management, New people & New GREAT pricing..
If ever SL's stays with the previous management, I personally think that it will be in MEMORY anytime soon..

Has always been & will always be my fave haunt to pass time..

Finally, about time. Once sweelee gets its act together some of the smaller merchants may start to struggle abit though. Hope they bring in the roland g-5 vg strat.

I say that with my experience, I'm becoming more and more confident with Swee Lee's service. I've purchased only 3 pedals as I remember from them for the last 5 years and just mostly just strings due to the fact that their prices are absurd. Now, I'm seeing a new Boss Tu3 for $130 ++ which is not bad at all. American Deluxe Strat for $950 ++?? Just too good to pass up! Whatever they're cooking in their new management, I'm liking it A LOT and they should stay this way. :p
 
i've been dealing with the swee lee chaps for a very long time. i was rather lucky to have been given thumbs-up service all the time save for 2 bitter occassions which i still recall vividly to this day. i gave credit to their services but people would respond otherwise, i don't blame them, maybe they were treated differently but i understood why- they started off being antagonistic & it was always a show-down on price issues. it's OK i'm just looking, i'm not buying from you people because you always over-price your Fenders- this is just one of the many remarks i'd overhear in store. pfffft... now we know that things are taking a turn in this aspect & more, it's good to see credit when credit is due

In all honesty, Swee Lee then and now seems to have changed for the better. Its not a secret that their pricing tend to steer people off but this changed over the past year..

And of course, their sales is something I always enjoy going to.
