Uh , hi guys , i'm new to this forum and wanted to know , if i were to get a PODHD500 , which amp would be good be a good combo with the pod ? Well , i mostly play at home but i'd like to perform sometime in the future , perhaps a 45w amp would be nice , is it sufficient ? i did my research and was considering the blackstar HT-5 ,i mostly play power metal but and sometimes uh ... eric johnson style or neil zaza , don't know what the genre is called , discuss please , lol .
Thank you everyone for commenting .

Hi there, I've had the HD500 for a while.. and depending on the setting.. i'm not sure you really need / want an amp?

I've had gigs where i ran the HD500 straight into the desk. And use the fall backs as monitors. Other times, the HD500 is just an effects board in the effects loop of my amp (cuz we still do love the good old tube amps).

Any amp's going to colour your tone that you set up in the HD500 for sure. So you probably want an amp with good cleans. That will slightly warm the tones from the HD500.

DT50 from Bogner not an option? It was designed and made to pair with the HD500. Atomic Amps are made for the digital rigs too..

I run the HD500 "Citymusic style" with a small mixer going to some active monitors. Good for home use. when you need to keep things down.

i used to run the hd500 through the mixer, but i realise it's causing quite a bit of issues with mixers not having enough ports at many venues. apart from that, the cab modelling is dodgy on the pod HD and it's one of it's weakest points.

i've got around that problem by programming my patches to be only pre amp section. ie, i choose pre amp models and "no cab" options with ER at 0%. i run my outs directly to my ht-5's effect's loop return. this is how i usually do it too for the amps at diferent venues, eg roland jc 120, marshall mg 100, jcm 800, blackheart 100h and i'm getting more or less consistent results and it's quite safe. for amps that do not have effects loop, i just plug in from the front and try to get the cleanest sound possible with a flat EQ and a dry signal.

i'm currently using the pod hd500 through my blackstar ht-5 and bleakheart 100h's effects loop into a 4×12. but i guess any amp with a effects loop will suffice. and cabs preferences are personal affair but i generally prefer at least 12" drivers.

the ht-5 does not have enough clean headroom for medium to large size venues btw. but it sounds more awesome than my 100 watt head in the bedroom

isnt it kinda redundant to buy a HT -5 and a pod HD 500, isn't the HD amp modulation like far superior than the blackstar preamp?

like igoh said, if your budget is loose , i suggest buying the atomic FRFR cabs

what is amp modulation? no, connecting the pod straight to the efx return bypasses the amp's preamp section, so it's just using the power amp to amplify the signal to drive the speakers.
