hey guys, do u think its possbile for english bands in singapore to make it big overseas? like in europe or even the US. maybe state your opinions whether the chances are almost impossible or its doable.

but imo, singapore hasn't really found the right formula for making it big overseas yet, we still dun possess the appeal

yeah, singapore's music scene that has taken off elsewhere mostly only exists in the form of mandopop. JJ Lim all these, how many english bands have u heard that "made it big" elsewhere?

hahah, ok make it big as in , like dream theater and stuff. u know, write album, tour, earn an income through these instead of having a day job.

my 2 cents worth:
even u are them most talented or skillful tat doesn't mean u will be successful:
i personally think it's who help u there: whether there are sponsors/ labels/ rich industry players willing promote u ;
if yr music suck but there are some ppl who belive in u can be big:
it's very difficult or rather i'll say impossible to be successful: Y??
it's not talent that will make u go far: u are competing with hundres or artist/musicians in S'pore... in the world u are competing with millions of ppl who have more $$$, resources, who do u think will win?? s'poreans who are damned too proud & crapy to support locals competing with westerners who readily spport & love their own... daaaa?? :x

Well to be encouraging, From wat i know Electrico has managed to appearin a concert in the U.S of A few months back @ Austin, Texas in March 2007,a first for a Singaporean bank so well y not but probably we nid to haf a genre of sg music to break into the foreign scene..

For now, the answer seems to be get out of here, get recognised somewhere else then come back. I'm sorry to say this but it seems so true. For local english stuff. I also feel that we haven't found a sound that is truly ours. It may only take 1 unique band to spark it all off... ... to make bands suddenly cool again...
