subtain basses

hey!!!!opps!!!

sorry!!!!!! so sorry!!!!

well, i think it's the tone..

ya....izit all substain tone basses are heavy??

I think he is trying to say,

"Are basses with good sustain usually heavy?"

or

"Does the weight of the wood contribute to a bass's sustain?"

or something along that line.

SUSTAIN

i don't think so. heavy woods usually contribute to the tone more than anything else. heavier woods such as mahogany sound alot warmer than lighter woods such as ash or alder. sustain is usually a result of the construction of the instrument

regardless of the wood used, a well constructed bass; solid bridge, bolt on or neck through or strings through body; will have better sustain, better tone, better everything than a crappy one

oh...ok..my bass tone can subtained up to 18 sec plus plus..

and is heavy....

hmm...is there any bass which is light<in weight>??and have good substained

i did went to some places and asked..nar..still not i want..

i don't think sustain have anything to do with weight ? more like the construction of the bass. like what shinobi said.

to me the only meaningful measure of sustain is the rate at which the note decays after being played. also, if you pluck harder the note will be louder but it will decay faster. so the attack plays a big part
