stuck screw

Hi, I have this stuck screw on my pickguard and have absolutely no idea how to get it out after the screw head becomes round after trying to extract it out with a screwdriver countless times. Anyone have any idea how to deal with this?

use a *proper* screwdriver (one that truly fits the screw, not just turn it alone), then use a hammer on the screwdriver to turn it slowly side to side. my dad used to do this when i couldn't get the screw out.

although then if ur screw is too round, I wouldn't know what to do. Maybe pass it to a luther to remove, and give ur guitar a good setup in the meantime. 8)

I have the same problem as you.

Where the screw is tight, I oiled it and leave it for a while before attempting to unscrew it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (especially when the groove on the screwhead is all gone due to excessive force).

One other alternative is to use an electric screwdriver. It may or may not work and you have to be careful in handling it so that it will not damage the wood.

Other drastic measures would be to forcibly remove the screw and possibly damaging the pickguard. You may need to buy a new pickguard if you are desparate enough to get that irritating screw out.

If the screw doesn't come out. What you need is a screwdriver with a larger handle for gripping. This translates to higher torsion and easier unscrewing.

i forgot to add. u also need to see if the screw is meant to be unscrewed with a sharp head screwdriver or blunt head screwdriver. using the wrong one will spoil your screws in the long run.

if it's already stuck with no more grip for any kind of screws, you can try putting a punch (used to mark position before drilling one) on the screw and hammering it, makeing a hexagonal kinda dent and then use a allen key to remove it.

or get a powerful drill, and sharp drill bit and drill into the shaft of the screw. and then reverse the drill direction. The screw should come out. Worked for me when i screwed up.

use a pair of pliers, grab the side of the screw and with the grip firmly held.. turn the screw.. always does it for me.. but be sure to get a good firm grip first.. n becareful not to scratch the pickguard..

The stuck screw doesnt have enough height for me to use the pliers. I think i'll just leave it as it is since i dont have most of the equipments u guys mentioned and i dont want to destory my pickguard... Thanks anyway :)
