Strings

Do I have to change all the strings if I replace one?
Because my guitar fell and the high E string snapped, so im currently playing with just that one changed.
It doesn't sound weird, but is it a good idea to change all the other strings as well?
Because the others are the ones that came with the guitar when I bought it.

Thanks in advance! :)

if the rest of your strings are in good condition- no need. knowing your guitar fell, the neck's well-being should be of concern, bro...

If I may add one remark, the effect of one changed string sounding radically different from the others is more pronounced on lower strings--E, A, D, and to a lesser extent, the G. It's also more evident on an acoustic than an electric. I would have taken the opportunity to change all the strings though, as new strings are a breathe of fresh air.

Depends on how old your strings are :) If they are old, might as well. Fresh strings, fresh inspiration to play :)

Hi Artillery,

As a general guide, if you're a frequent player, it is always good to replace all the strings together. Of course, it is another story if you've just changed your strings and one string snapped after 3 days.

On a side note, if you take good care of your strings by using string cleaner (conditioner) and wipe them with your cloth every time you finish playing, they should last for quite long. It is possible to have them last for months. This is because the rust don't accumulate...

However, you might wish to replace them after 3 months or so, if you're very particular of the tone of the strings... I have known of people who change their strings on a monthly basis, because they play for hours everyday.

I hope this is useful for you, girl.

Cheers!
