Strings

well,
I am no expert on the issue, but I always noticed that SIT strings seemed more bright and trebly, kinda twangy sometimes....
I have no preferences between dean markleys and daddarios but I end up using dean markleys,I find it giving more definition
DR coated strings suck,it gives this wierd addition to the tone that I am not able to figure out but i dun like it
DR normal strings are cool
Ernie Ball strings I havent used
:D all personal preferences and interpretations ofcourse

but ya they definitely affect the tone

Yup it's all up to preferences, I personally prefer the cheaper Daddarios.
Anyway there's an abundance of threads on strings, do use the 'SEARCH' function.

I switched back to the cheap D'addarios some time back. For $5.50 a pack, their tone , durability and ability to hold their tune is quite amazing.

My worst experience are the GHS subzero/cyrogenic strings...they broke easily and would never stay in tune for long.

Yeap! Sometimes the price isn't the best indicator. (:
I tried the Bluesteels and didn't quite like it either, well, just audition everything.

ohh... i saw ibanez strings that were only available in the U.S.... the were really good, it had great bite and yet was smooth at the same time, 1 set of strings cost 19 bucks...

I happen to use D'addario 9's. However, most people I know play with 10's or higher because they like the "heavyness" and sustaining power. These people also believe that these thicker strings contribute to a warmer tone. Personally, I find that the difference is less than substantial, if even existant; and I like the feel of 9's much better. As for brand...if you play a lot and change strings very often I would go with D'addario, they seem to be the cheapest.

Peace.

the thing that pissed me off with the DR coated strings, was the change in the way the strings behaved..i guess thats the best way to describe it :D

oh yeah... wad does the tension got to do with the sound? Any diff? or just each electric is suited to one thickness? mines .09....
