Strings overlapping each other at some poi on the tuning peg

Is it ok to restring like that? Would it in any way affect the string life?

It would affect tuning stability in the beginning (fresh set) as teh strings stretch... since you got more strings to stretch at the points they overlap.

And besides, it looks untidy!!!

But it will not affect string life. Unless you overlap a hell lot and the string twists at acute angles...
