hey i am buying a strat. Comparing Yamaha pacifica between timbre sr 200 strat, priced around the same. Play blues/pop. advice?

the California series is one worthy strat-type guitar to own, slightly more than $200...

ok the cali series looks nice. must be the sunburst finish.

to the threadstarter : wah LAU. its my personal advice to you NOT to spend cash on budget guitars. PLEASE do yourself a favour in the long run and save up for a decent strat. Start with the CIJs! Come on man!

Amen nicky. WELL SAID.

Please get a decent guitar, dont buy a cheapo one and upgrade it. IMO start with a 2nd hand MIM or CIJ will do fine. Drop by peninsula and check out their selection available. For <1000 you can get one real good strat IMO.

PS- im a through and through strat lover, ive had a les paul once, it didnt stay for more than 3 weeks, All i ave are STRATS STRATS and STRATS. So, take my advice seriously. Please get yourself a decent strat to start with.

let's give him the benefit of the doubt- he might just be getting a temporary entry-level guitar. i believe we are acting (our replies) on this assumption...

i've never played the timbre, but i swear by yamaha pacificas, the necks feel full yet not chunky, and the stock single coils are quite decent

If its your first guitar, I'd suggest prowling the Guitar/Buy sell for good deals.

If its your second guitar, I'd still suggest prowling the Guitar/Buy sell for good deals.

Note to some of us here: The Timbre is said to be on par with at least Mexican strats by some of us here. And hence should not be dismissed as some no-name beginner instrument. You have plenty of money to upgrade it too.
