Strat Hardware Help

Yeah I recently got a strat, and I realized that on the neck plate, you know the thing that has 4 screws to join the neck to body; also on the input jack plate, it's starting to have some small dots on it and I can't seem to wipe them with a cloth. I think it's oxidation.

Any advice on how to remove those and what to use?
Would be of great help if you recomment some brands too =)

its in chrome? have you tried using chrome polish?
i pamper mine with meguiar's gold classic metal restorer
any other brands will do just fine, be extra careful on gold parts(if any)

it must be made from a regular iron or regular steel... they can rust

small black dots... maybe its a rust... wipe it with gasoline

regular iron/steel has tendency to rust.... thats why they were coated chrome or gold to prevent them from rusting

Actually all the hardware on my guitar is gold. Should have added it in the earlier post

This tends to happen more with Gold hardware. There's really nothing you can do about it. Just give the guitar a good wipe after using and place it back in the case. You can look forward to your hardware eventually turning greenish over the years. But hey, people seem to be paying more for old banged up "new" guitars with the added finger gunk on the fretboard.

I know, but I'm not really into that kind of thing; I like to keep my guitar in the best condition possible =)

Like wise, you can use something like Mr Brasso or some Brass tarnish remover. Only trouble is, because the hardware is plated, after a few polishing sessions, the hardware will slowly turn silver. Then your problem is solved. :D
