stolen iPod..

Let me tell you guys a bloody stupid incident which just happened to me. I can't believe i got robbed of my iPod this way..

About an hour ago, after a particularly tiring gig, i was on NR8 going back home... fell asleep listening to my iPod and was woken up by the bus driver. Around my neck was just my @#$@#$ ear phones with the iPod missing! I know it was stolen because i secure the headphone wire around my iPod casing and its impossible to remove unless someone takes it out. @#$@#% lah.... literally under my nose... i don't know if i should laugh or cry but i know i am very upset. argh.

@#%@# lah... i just got it replaced by thr apple center too... its almost brand new. arghhhh

Its the 4th gen black and white one. I mean, sure its not the latest and all but it was flawless... i didnt even take out the plastic cover that came with new ipods... i just reversed it so i could see through it....

sighhhhh i am sure, to most musicians out there, your MP3 player is about as important as all your pedals... maybe even ur instrument itself to aid learning of songs on the go. damn!

Guys, beware of ur player in the future! (okie.. i am really still feeling quite shitty) gotta spend money to replace it now... there goes my sansamp BDI... arghhh

oh man thats sad. reminds me of that day. i juz lost my wallet a couple of days back. 2 secs aft i got off the bus i realized my wallet was missing. by then the bus move off de. the thing is i had high hopes of getting it back coz the bus was like 3 stops frm interchg and its in d morning. the top deck had like 5 ppl ony. so i called sbs str away. the bus havent event reach the depot. i called again awhile later and the say they nvr find anything!!! arghh. means someone took it. and dun intend to return it. inside most important got IC!! then ezlink n my posb card. i feel so handicapped nw. cant go out coz no ezlink. wan to use cash expensive. lol. so yeah. F**K THIEVES!!!! SBS not safe ah...

slapadelic: Im pretty sure apple would have a copy of the serial number or if they gave you a warranty receipt. I know creative do that.

Exactly e same thing happened 2 me... except dat i fell aslp on e bus, when i woke up i rushed down e bus as it was my stop. by e time i realised dat my wallet was gone, e bus already left. i tried calling e interchange but a pretty rude lady simply said dat it was not there aft asking me 2 hold 4 a few mins while she went 2 look 4 it. i don even noe if i was holding my wallet n dropped it while i was aslp or some guy came n took it frm my hands. but its weird coz i had my ipod in my hands as well... i guess it was juz carelessness on my part, but now i keep everything in my bag if i feel slpy in e bus.

do u use iTunes? Ur serial number is somewhere in ur computer if u transfer songs frm there. When u plug in to the USB or firewire port, a log is made. The model, make, serial number, & things like that get noted down. But sometimes they don't. Its not only in iTunes. Its system-wide. The guys at hardwarezone forums under the protable music player stuff may b able to help u. U can also report to Apple. In case the thief tries to register (rare case, but lets hope she/he's stupid), the key would b recognised as a duplicate & Apple would let u know. With ur consent, they would then help track down the suspect or in another rare case, they might just replace it :lol:

therez official documentation on this. i cant really rmmbr whether its at apple's site or somewhere else. brief memory provides me with the following:

iTunes
this works if only ur iPod was the last to connect to iTunes. Not so sure about iTunes version though. The latest is better.

- Go to Preferences (edit> preferences or something like tht)
- click on iPod
- u should see a message like "No iPod Connected" or "No Connection Found"
- click on tht message, it should now reveal the last iPod's serial

u can try to google ur problem to find the documentation on this. hopefully Apple is still aware that hacking is on the rise :lol:
