which are you driving and why?

i've always thought of going auto, but i am having too much fun with manual transmission during my driving lessons.

auto. coz in singapore there's a traffic light every 50m. have to half clutch too often. besides if you work in town like me then you end up in a jam both to and from work every day.

auto is easier to pass though..
yeah and i agree certain singapore roads are a (oh, watever...) to drive on if u using stick... the half clutch thingy.. it gets your left knee so tired that when u finally step out after driving, its either your left knee trembles or u can hardly feel your left knee... :D

The manual is a lot more fun to drive, gives you a LOT more control over the car. Though i really like the manual, id take an auto gearbox for convenience

Ohh troo that. Clutch control in traffic jams is a pain. MY left leg starts trembling sometimes in cars with really heavy clutches (sorry ah, i can't afford good cars with decent gearboxes)

well they are cars which have both auto and manual nowadays, so dun fret the onli they are missing is a clutch. yeh an auto gearboxes are more ex to repair if they are problems with it. certain cars' performance figures also differ from manual and auto. because the auto gerbox is heavier, the auto models are slower then their manual counterparts for example the mitsubishi lancer. its auto version is 5km/h slower then the manual brother in terms of top speed.

^5 Take manual license den decide which type later XD lolz. if not later you take auto liao no choice must drive manual car you cant drive.

manual. saves petrol cos u can just coast in neutral for long stretches but that applies to older cars though.. also, can use engine brake to preserve foot brakes. there's nothing like a real clutch.. tiptronic transmissions can't do engine brake properly like on a manual.

but if u drive thru traffic jam often.. then go auto, no doubt abt it.

If you are trying to save costs, manual is the choice too. Better fuel consumption and acceleration. Easier to maintain and less 'power lag'.

During coasting, modern engines do not inject fuel as the rolling wheels are driving the engine. Free mileage!!! (for example when coming down the hill at PIE near paya lebar or ECP after kallang river there.)
