Squire telecaster or j&d les paul?

well bro, we cant really compare these 2 guitars as they're 2 different types of guitar.
unless you're talking abt a shine telecaster and a squier telecaster or j&d lp and shine lp.
i've never had a telecaster before, so i cant really give u my opinion on that.

+1 to gjtaylor. they are two different types of guitars. have u tried them before, TS? personally i would buy the lp coz imma lp kinda guy. huhu

have heard my friend played the squire telecaster...on a amt electronics dt2 distation pedal it was reali2 noisy...but kinda liked the sharp bright tone that the telecaster has...as for j&d im not reali2 sure...anibody care to add more?
thanx...

i assume that you're the one who's interested in buying the guitar. whoever it is, test out and hear for yourself. it should fit the following criteria.

1. you like how it sounds
2. you like how it feels
3. you can afford it

maybe i wil just buy both...kinda interesting these two guitars...
buy j&d 1st...haha...thanx to those who have shared their knowledge so far..

both guitars have their own tones. personally i will go for the telecaster. the tele has a more bright and crunchy tone to it whereas the lp has a smooth and mellow tone. its all preference.:)

ok..seriously..ppl have been saying both guitars are different..
I'm juz gonna tell u, both of them are worlds apart! lolz..

yea..both are at different tips of the world..

Wat type of songs are u into? naming the band would be easier..like for example..Arctic Monkeys..if u like their sound and want their sound, get the tele..

The lp is more into warm/raw kinda sound..Guns n Roses would be d simplest pick..try hearing them if u havent(which i believe u had)..

Les Pauls are known for their diversity too..can be played in lots of genres, i heard..

I have the j&d les paul you mention or maybe what i assume you are referring to.

the guitar kicks elephant's ball.nevermind the brand.this thing is built to play and has a nice neck to it too.but if you're a player that test the guitar to the limit like me.hehe.the guitar isnt as durable as you think it is.

rust and fading hardware.but thats just relic shit for me.i like it alot.the electronics aint that wonderful for a guitar but works fine.

to sum up my opinion.simply excellent.one to get if you dont mind the brand.

im planning to restore my j&d les paul.its just the sweetest guitar i've ever had.my first guitar btw.smack a new pair of kickass pickups and this thing is a beast.get it!

wow!!!noe wat i just turned down a offer made by a guy sellin j&d les paul..
and he sold the guitar alrdy...so now im lookin at a squire tele...contacted a buyer that is willin to sell with fender texas special and dimarzio pickpups? should i get it?
i mean, i tried the j&d just now and with my current set up...the feedback snds nearly explodes my room...its dat bad man!!!dats y i turned down the offer.
current set up:amt dt2 distation-boss os2-ibanez pm7-boss dd3
for haz_flow:i play experimental and also metal stuff...influences are envy, toe,
mars volta,pelican.mastodon,russian circle etc...
so guys, opinions about the squire tele or if not i just stick to my epi sg special with epi les paul standard humbucks..
mr dime,nd ur opinion here...(sori guys for the long post)

get a TGM lespaul! it kicks ass! ok shush, bias opinion from an owner. huhu. but really, its a great guitar from what i see.

If you're gonna be playing metal, the tele just won't cut it unless it has humbuckers. Personally, I'd choose a humbucker-equipped telecaster because I like small guitars.

ok..so far i've only heard envy..and i'm gonna generalise ur influences coz i havent surf the net for the others..

One thing's for sure..tele is not a common weapon for metal..i believe it will give a bright scorny distorted sound when it's connected with a heavy distortion? Correct me if i'm wrong..

One of the nicest distorted/overdrived telecaster i heard is from Creep by Radiohead..check out their live version..

Other than dat, i believe teleS are more into indie/powerpop/pop rock genres..coz it gives the twangy sound..metals need something heavier like ibanez..so here's how it goes..

Ibanez / Les Paul / Tele

Metal /// Any /// Indie & Pop

About the lp, i'm sorry u had to experience such feedbacks or hummings on the guitar..maybe d pickups werent properly grounded or some sort..but SGs are good for heavy sound tho..Wat if u buy this guitar to taste other genres or do experiment on how to put a tele in ur genre instead of wanting a proper axe coz u've already got the SG?
Juz a simple suggestion..

I dun mind anyone correcting me on this post, i'm not a pro yet..=l

yeah man.. i agree with haz..
if u're metal dude, go ibanez..
telecasters have sharp tones man..
unless u wanna make clean tunes in ur songs..
dude, i've got a feeling u like telecaster becoz of the look..
haha.. but thats just my opinion..

How about installing rail humbuckers in the Tele? Then u can add a coil split to switch between humbuckers and single coils :) Best of both worlds.

The Tele is versatile for just about everything. I don't think its a guitar only for country music. Can be used in punk rock too. The late Joe Strummer of The Clash plays a Tele.

My Tele is a Squier Standard which I upgraded to a GFS Overwound pup in the bridge. Still retains the Tele tone but with more power and sustain, good for solos : ) The neck pup is GFS upgraded too but its too weak and bassy for me. Might wanna change that to rail neck humbucker. Hehe.

If u want, I can make a video demo on the Squier Tele Standard.

wow!!!dats great guys...so i guess maybe i buy to j&d lp(new offer)
or just stay with my epi sg.

my epi sg is great so far...works well with my current set up of pedals.
the amt dt2 distation is great on the sg.

so now its either the j&d les paul or stik with my sg(maybe will change to the tesla active humbucks)cos the tesla....wow!!3 words...wow!!!

opinions guys...(aniways,thanx for all of ur feedbaks...learned sumtin)
p.s.-faizal rocks,would reali appreciate the demos...if u have the time...thanx

What is the reasons for the 2 choices??

Any way, if you want something clean but yet maintain the distortion... IMHO, how about dropping in 2 GFS mean 90 and change your cap to orange drops?? These clean up the sound alot....
