squier strat or tele?

newbie here, wanting to get a lasting and reliable electric guitar.

as title, which is better?
just asking for general opinion.
feel free to give me any advice on buying guitars

well it depends what kind of songs or sounds you wanna play.

telecasters have more tone and sounds as clean and clear as a whistle as compared to stratocasters , but that's only really apparent when you play it clean... the more gain, the less difference... but that's just a generalization, tho'.

but then i'll leave it to the experts to tell you.
this was just my 2cents worth...

i bought a Squier Strat the other day. nice guitar, beter for playing rock. A tele is more ideal if your going for pop-rock, country, oldies, etc

save up a little more and get a japanese fender , don't bother with squires

Agreed. The difference in the sound and quality of the MIJs and the Squier are so huge. I rather you save up for a MIJ.

But the squiers are great guitars for their price too. Just that you HAVE to find a gem. The quality is pretty inconsistent. I saw a few good squiers before.

I used to have a Squier Standard Strat and really, there's not much of a difference between the Squier and CIJ Strat (the one I have right now). Just that the CIJ Strat has that little extra character to it. The Squier is not that bad at all. Squier has a satin neck while the CIJ strat has a glossy finish neck. Depends on what ur comfortable with.

Ever considered the latest Classic Vibe series released by Squier this year? Heard so much good things about those.

Squier sucks hahaha , the neck is dry , the pickups are horrible its made in indonesia and the electronics are screwed .

Hahaha. Zach dont insult squiers la. Its good for beginners. Really, if you have been using Fender for like few months or years and u switch to Squire, you'll be super uncomfortable.

So what il advice this dude is to mayb get a squire and go pimp it. haha

Cheers.

ps:i nvr used a squier before so i have no idea about how it sounds etc. haha

Dude, watch what you say.

Squiers are NOT crap. Made in indonesia doesnt matter. made in USA/Japan whatever. It doesnt matter.

My squier sure doesnt have a dry neck(I have a fender too btw), it was my first guitar and she plays very well.

Go out to the store, and try what you want. and then decide.

i agree with JMS, you can't generalize. The Squiers ive tried are all really sweet decent guitars for starters. (Noobies just sounds too offending to my ears)

And point to note, Teles arent only suited for country and oldies as mentioned earlier. Ive a custom built tele which perfectly handles hardcore music such as Underoath and the likes.

Pros
Teles:Good clear clean, chimey distorted.
Strats: not as 'twangy' as teles, better build for soloing(imho)

Cons
Teles slightly heavier then strats,
not as many options in terms of sound options
i.e. strat - 5way switching, master vol and 2 tone
tele - 3 way, master volume and tone

Still depends on what you wanna play.
hope this helps, somehow.

Cheers and all the best to your playing (:

definitely a strat for you dude, the strat is super versatile you will definitely not regret getting one.i use a tele though, tele foreverrrrrrr

Squier sucks hahaha , the neck is dry , the pickups are horrible its made in indonesia and the electronics are screwed .

Hi!

its people's opinion. if ure so offended, then dont come to this forum anymore. this is a singapore forum by the way. if u compare a usa made item to indonesia, i would rather get the us made. but i'll support Indonesian coffee

peace man... it doesn't matter where it came from. we all know that Squiers are all mass-produced hence they don't rly have good quality.

seriously

you might want to consider other more important factors first

-e.g. squire or higher end etc,

-finished/unfinished maple fretboards
(some people find it sticky and disturbing but i think i like them!),

for the two guitars i would choose the strat purely because i am a strat fan. :D
but if i were u, i also wouldn't mind getting the tele as my first guitar cuz i would still buy a strat in the near future and keep the tele as well! both of them produce unique tone which can match a variety of songs IMO

Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, ESP, Yamaha, Dean, etc sucks as well. if you come before an abominable product, regardless of the brand name, it still sucks.
