look no further for that awesome singing n playing. the great SRV will show u. :D

How could i ever have forgotten about him? *slaps myself*

SRV is certainly one great example of it man.

ahaha. yeah i oso forgot about him at one point. ive been obsessed with all de fast n technical playing but SRV bears his own torch of uniqueness. a rough hoarse voice, texas accent and thick rich guitar tone. tt guy seriously sings his own song. his way his style. killer.

I used to be like this, Some practice all it takes really. some pointers...

Do each separately first.

Practice to the level you can do it on impulse, easily.

Now try both.

Worked for me.

hey ho let`s go!!!!!!!

y dun u try playing the notes 1st...play it all over a few times.....after that hum while playing....gradually start singing....it works 4 me...coz i`m playing the bass n doing back up vox....
but try NOT to look down while playing....it really helps....

what i think is to try memorise the lyrics first....then practice....i look down on the frets for those hard riffings.......classical guitarist comes easier??.....i took classical guitar lessons.....not easy ah......talking and singing is different....its easier to talk IMO while playing...

i think do some corrdinating exercise? i dunno if this works for all, but it pretty works well for me. was playing bass sometimes ago, but also got this similar problem muz concentrade cant like tok to friend and such, but after since i took up drums, maybe it build up my coordinate between my legs and hands indivdivually, i think its exercise my brain better, than i realise that i can now actually sing and plae at the same time. but im not too sure about guitar althought, tat was bass guitar case, lol, perharps it helps

ahhh... that's nice, playing bass and singing, like sting!... i've always think that's the coolest thing a vox can do. im sick of seeing frontman sing n play guitar.

Tom Araya babeh!

Anyway, you could ringing a chord out and singing.. then next chord.. just one strum for each chord.. After you get the coordination right, try a more difficult strumming pattern.. Go slowly, I'm sure you can do it..

Though, the only song i can sing and play is Mr Big - To Be With You

eh bam, that's good already. for me i cant even handle the chorus part properly, my pinky always cant reach the damn low E during the chord change

everyone seems so negative. Cheer up guys.

It can be easy if you start anywhere, everywhere that you can be. How? for example, since playing and singing is the problem, the problem is not your playing or singing.

It is your rhythm and maintaining tempo. If without singing you can play all the chords at perfect timing, then it IS getting the hang of your rhythm.

Try this.. forget about the guitar part. When or as long as you are free, sing. But sing with your feet tapping on a 4/4 rhythm. Can do it? Great. try using your fingers to simulate the easy drum beats of that song.

For example take "nothing else matters" for instance. The drum beat is not 4/4, therefore if you can tap your feet to that and sing. You will be able to do it on the guitar.

Also you guys have to remember, that a C chord strum four times dun necessarily means that you have to sing ONLY at the times it is strummed. Sometimes you need to do it so slowly to realise that you may have to sing before you even strum it, in between the beats.

Okay, i said enough.. hope i didn't miss anything or said too much. I can strum and since the day I pick up the guitar during pri six. Not that I have talent, but because before I can play the guitar i like to do those "taps" and sing. I think it works.
