someone help me with my guitar

hey guys i just bought a epiphone sg special , i played it for awhile and its quite ok but i realised that whenever i tried playing the 1st fret of the 2nd string , it sounded unclear , kind of like when you didn't press it hard enough , but no matter how hard i press , its still there , can someone help me with it?

fret buzz i suppose...try to make ur action higher to see if it solve ur problem..

hmm....lets see..this is my 1st guitar and i dun know anything about it , do you have any website that teach me how to do so?

sorry to hijack this thread a little but i would like to ask if fret buzz is good or not..cuz i read something off a webbie which says

Lower The Action On Your Guitar -- The 'action' of the guitar is the height of the strings above the fretboard. On electric guitars, this is adjusted by a set of vertical screws on the bridge. These screws usually require either a flat head screwdriver or an Allan wrench. This is an extremely critical adjustment. Very slight changes in the action can make a noticable difference for better or worse. Most players lower the action of their guitars to just above the point where the string begins to buzz against the fret - that is, as low as it can go and still sound good.

ur neck is adjusted by a truss rod in the guitar neck anyway my fren's sg necks snapped after a while cos of our climate.

Sheesh. Bring it back to the shop you got it from and get them to set it up.

-_-'' , i bought a 2nd hand , anyway , do you think you can recommend me shop which has good customer service?? i think i will go there and ask for help , i am willing to pay a few bucks for them to help me do the set up

Malcom.

If you do decide to bring it to anyone else, please please please get a diagnosis and a quote before agreeing to anything.

i might be able to fix it, if you trust me with a hammer

no seriously, mi bro's SX bass was having ridiculous fret buzz and eve had some dead spots, so i took some advice, and took a small hammer and hammered in the affected frets, and now its a big improvement, and i can lower the ridiculously high action
