some questions about jamming at a studio

hi next wednesday will be the first time i will be jamming in a studio, so ive the following questions:

my band is 2 guitars (1 acoustic/1 elect) 1 drum 1 bass

1. do we have to bring our own equipment?

2. do we have to book beforehand?

3. any centrally-located studio for us to jam? recommend? i heard about beats merchant...

4. any studios <$15sgd/hr?

Its better to bring own guitar/bass/drumsticks but if u dont, they will provide. Yes, u do have to book before hand for those centrally located studios(if u talk abt ones like wee lee simei, no need to book, most of the time got free room). As for recommendation, i think fourtones is the deal, but it exceeds your budget. Beat merchants is fine as well tho.

but, if you become a member, its quite cheap. plus weekdays before 6 you can have student rates if you're student la. usually i jam at tiet room 1 on weekdays, which is 8 bucks for 2 hours.

i duno, 18/hr seems quite fine to me, especially after you split the cost between band members. tiet helps if you're student. sometimes they have 1for1 offers for the whole month. i remember one month we jammed for 4hours but only paid for 2. best jamming mth ever. sometimes i feel cost compromises the equipment they provide, fourtones is the only exception (but their rooms are damn hard to get hold of). tiet room 4 would do you well if you're a member, go ahead sign up

oops! regarding my above post, i somehow had the impression that it was $16, or that could be the peak hour rate, or i could be outright wrong..whatever the price is, fourtones is a great place to jam!

you can try l cube too. Reasonable pricing, comfy surroundings and great equiptment. Music essemble too. Boons isn't too bad... I like tiet and fourtones too. But abit ex ah...

or u can try club paradise in tampines. great equipments there, but if u go there, book the red room, its not dat cramp den the long room.

we been there since day 1!!!
but they moving soon, to outram, i think within 10min of their current location.. not confirm when yet tho..

we always jam in room 3 on sundays cos room4 seems echo-ey, i play bass and i can't hear myself unless i stand on the "steps" near the door.. dunno why tho, but we always play in 3..

club paradise sucks.... very small room, for such expensive rates....

jam there once, never came back again.... they put there 24 hours, called them at 11pm to book the next day they scolded me not to call them so late at the night!! than why open 24 hours... haiyooo

wee lee simei is the worst place for any band to jam... the equiptments are far beyond from hell!!! (which means it's so f*cked that the drum heads starts to pop out!!! gosh... they should close down wee lee simei...
