i've been using a J&D SG Copy or something...and yeah,i drilled a hole on the upper horn...however it doesnt solve the way the guitar is held when i'm not holding on to it...

it seems to go horizontal instead of the usual 45degrees..

hope u know what it means..

what i wanna know is that..are SGs and SG copies supposed to be like that? or is there something wrong with my guitar?

thx in advance

That is called a neckdive, happens when the neck is heavier than the body like what tany had mentioned. As for the issue commonly found in SGs, i'm not too sure about it so hopefully someone would chip in. So far my strats & superstrats haven't got this problem

yeah i know its called a neckdive...

so anyone else encountered this prob with their SGs? or even any other guitars? is there a way to solve it? or to just play?

schooling tmr dude...maybe i'll do that soon..thx..but...eh..at guitar shops they let us put the strap on meh?

Where did you buy yours from? Tell them you bought it there and need their advice. Or some other reason like " I am thinking of bringing it here for repair". Ask if you could just try on a Gibson (or another copy) just to feel.

And bring your own strap.

If you want to balance it at 45 degrees,

1) use a strap that has a rubber grip that can grip onto your shirt, adjust the strap length till you get the tilt you desired.

2) open up the electronics compartment, throw in something heavy...

3) at the end of the strap near the bottom of the guitar, tie some weights there...

It's a balancing act, there're many ways to achieve it. adding a strap pin at the tip of the left horn may not help.

one thing you can't change is the guitar's weight distribution. obviously the neck is heavier than the body.
