Well, you don't have to burn your ipod.
If you're using an Apple Computer, then you can get this software called Visualhub. It's absolutely fabulous and will convert almost anything for you. You'll also have other kinds of formats to choose from.
The downside? You'll prolly have to pay for it if you're converting a full length video. =(
