But one sad truth is that being female is a big factor. Not saying that one MUST be a female to make it but being a female has its pros. That is an undeniable fact.
There are so many female singers and entertainers out there who cant sing or hold a tune when performing live. But just because they have a pretty face to the masses they appeal to + the simple minded masses who support the artiste just becos other ppl are doing it = BOOM! Instant Fame!
ps: I not saying that she cant sing. Just never heard of her and never hear her sing in person so hard to judge....And my post is not targeted to the Larking or Larken or Larkin or Linkin Step singer.....

Pop boybands draw large girl fanbase, and pop girl artists draw large guy fanbase. Is this true for all genres? I don't think so. So the pro of being a girl might be negated by the same oppsite pro of being a guy depending on the genre and target audience.

hmm ive played with her on a few occasions, i must say she totally deserves the attention.
She has a unique husky voice quality that really complements her acoustic guitar + singer/songwriter approach.
not to mention her guitar playing improved freakishly quickly in a span of a few months.

Me and my friends used to experiene that too. But it seems for us, its an exponential ladder because we're experiencing major slow downs in advancing now after most of the basics and intemediates have been covered.
I feel that, like most instruments, its easy at the start but gets way harder after a certain point.

You truly mean I have to listen to each and every Softies to make a comment such as "two of the most talented Softies"??? I've listened to quite a number and feel comfortable with my comment.
How I arrived at conclusion is largely based on many factors which include talent, originality, intelligence and hard work - just to name a few factors
Do you have a list /of your own - perhaps? Who would you rank up as your top two or even five. I'm even more curious than you. lol

For those who are not aware of what happened, Ling86's account was hacked sometime in Dec 2007 along with other youtuber's accounts. Most of the accounts were given back to them within days... Except Ling's account.
