SOFT drummers who're gigging

thanks you guys :)

well i used to play at a place called forbest, but now my other band and i are looking around for new places to play at so we're doing the boring stuff like printing new portfolios, hehe. i've always been gigging with much older bands so am now concentrating on my band that comprises people closer to my age, so i can stop feeling like a baby. incidentally, we've joined our first band competition together, and we're in the finals this sat at dxo, so if you happen to be coming down to support your friends you can say hi to me, the drummer of diorama. and the only female drummer in the bands i figure, haha.

ah so thats eddie. i always forget. i know the pianist mario is super good too!

justaphase :smt017 you mean you are a :smt061 Drummer? Wow.ww :smt103 :smt055

Where's dxo and at what time?. My Drumming lesson is at 5.00 to 6.00pm I hope it doesn't clash then I come give you support.... :smt026

haha yep, one of the few! i havent met many other female drummers who come out to play in clubs unfortunately.

its at 8pm, but i dont wanna burden anyone with it; cause there is a $10 entrance fee, unless you know the other bands playing (for the full list of bands check out www.tq.com.sg) so that kind of makes your ten buckes more worth it.

dxo is at the esplanade and each finalist plays 2 songs i reckon. you might know some of the other bands in the list, check it out :)

actually, i'll just do it for you, since my email from them was open anyway, haha. the list of bands playing at the TalentQuest X competition this sat 8pm at DXO, the esplanade:

Allude
Sponge
Epitome of Beauty
Knight Wings
Ridge
Car Crash Candle
Diorama
80% Alcohol
11th Hour
Blame The Drummer

Nice! Congrats to getting to the finals!

I was going to take part in TQ too, but had problems getting my old band together in time.. Sigh.

Justaphase: Hey, there are other female drummers who gig! A gd example is Audrey Tang! Ruth Ling from their band 'Walking On Water' is a good female drummer besides being a really good keys player herself.

I think Louis Sol/Tan has ceased playing at JSB for a few years now. Playing at the Ritz mostly, while Boon Gee's the resident drummer at JSB.

Justaphase...yes LT is no longer playing at Jazz at South Bridge 2 years back.....I just spoke to Eddie Chan....BG is the residentail Drummer playing there every night (a very good drummer)...and on Wednesday they have 7pc band (like a mini-big-band) every night band starts 9.30pm to 1.00pm.

oneday we both go there to see see hor Kekekekeke :smt040 Ooops...how can I forget my Bro Weckl here & doublestrokesg also lah - yes we all go together and relax ok? :drinkers:

hey doub;estrokesg, i didn't know ruth ling drummed as well! but you're right she sure is good on the keys. audrey's a friend of mine and we hail from the same alma mater as well. i have seen her sub for louis soliano at the hotel (still cant remember the name!) that his trio plays at. she took up singing and now sings and plays at the same time as well, haha. she's done some tough jazz numbers that way, very impressive.

haven't been to jazz on south bridge in ages. but i saw boon gee play there before and i like him. he plays for a blues band (U-Blues i think?) in addition i think..yep one should go check it out one day

Justaphase: Heh, cool! Maybe we should have a mini Sunday night jam session outing for the jazz sofites or those who might be interested! :)

I'll be playing my first gig (in one and a half years) on 18th March for a band competition at MDIS Unicampus. I have stopped playing in a band since the middle of 2005 due to work commitments. But I've been keeping my hands busy by playing on the drum pads. I am really nervous thinking about it. I guess it's just my lack of experience and my own personal expectations.

Bro DrumDead - it's natural to be nervous even if that was me. You will be OK and all the best ! Just practice more - " To Gain Confidence".

i'm playing mon and thur at Crazy Elf, but from April onwards it'll will be from mon to sat. drop by when you can and come say hi.

daniel

Hi Guys, I've started a new pop/rock outfit with Maia Lee on vocals, Kym Chye on guitar, Robert Seng on keys and Andrew Yong on bass. All killer musicians! Come check us out next friday at balaclava from 10pm.

Cheers!
