thats why i got a tele! i prefer fixed bridge thats why a tele not strat. Dun say there's a hardtail strat... choices varies. 3 way switch is a must, dun ask me why... i just prefer the straight forward 'anyhow' flick also cannot miss type of switch. And i dun dislike fender... in fact i'm getting another one. Strat is just not for me...

Well... I kinda prefer Ibanez and Jackson to Fender...

I don't dislike the strat but I play mostly hard stuff so for now it doesn't fill the need. But when I have to play softer stuff, I'd trust a strat more than anything else, truth be told. Sorry... Gave the wrong idea in my previous post.

But actually while floating bridges are more troublesome, they stay in tune better and lower the tension so there is not as much pressure on the strings for those heavy strummers and benders... But must be a good floating bridge, of course. :lol:

Mines a floating bridge and whatever I do to it, it really stays in tune! And the strings on it currently aren't even my favourite Ernie Balls. So yeah I'm kinda okay with both...

Engene, a floating bridge will put less stress on the strings when bending or hard strumming, but you will need to bend further to get the same degree of pitch change on a fixed bridge guitar. This is because the bridge will compensate some of your effort to bend the string by moving upslightly. For a fixed bridge guitar, the playing feel is quite consistant and linear. Well, take these with a pinch of salt bro, its just some crap reasoning from myself. Any guitar is fine as long as you likes it. Dun bother about what other ppl or rather sales man try to push features you dun really need.

the term 'floating bridge' is used very loosely today, it has become equivalent to a locking unit that provides a dual whammy action.

'floating' bridge is more about set-up than a specific bridge model. a typical vintage Fender bridge can be set up to float & we note that Van Halen's floyd rose bridge offers a one-way execution only (pitch lowering).

and ya, floating bridge are just bridge that can move, either up or down or both...is up to you to adjust. Its the locking nut that makes the difference.
