Snare question

Hi,
I am new to drums.
However...I have been listening to drums music
May I know what type of snare drum is the drummer using?
can this sound be produced in my humble Tama Stagestar set just by tuning?
or do i need to change my snare drum?

if im not wrong the stagestar is a metal snare right? its possible if u can get rid of the overtones, but it wouldnt sound organic and natural.
its a wood snare, something 8 or 10 ply i reckoned? with a averagely tight tuning and the top and a loose rattle for the crack.
i think the sound engineering also makes a huge difference. my sound engineers make or break me haha.

you can try, but its hard, a wood one will give you the woody sound you hear.

Just my humble opinion

AND OH.
Skins make a huge difference. if you really wanna kill overtones on the metal snare, get remo powerstroke 4. Never failed.

i tried to tune for a tighter sound...but end up ...when i hit the tom...the snare resonant
so i need to retune it
maybe one of these days i go your house and see

Haha what skins do you use bro?

And that happens. you must adjust the tension of the wire as well.

Hi Nick,
the top skin is the stock tama skin
i guess the bottom is stock as well.
