Snare drums

hey. yea yamaha sells them, you need not go to their industrial building. just go to the plaza singapura shop.

yea and for the overtones. yea you could use o rings. or moon gel. some people just tape cloth to their snare. try with the cloth so see if its better first. and i suggest why dun you try retuning the whole snare. maybe then you dun even need to change the heads. good tuning can make a lousy kit sound great. so yea try it. you could find alot of tuning resources online. youtube has many videos too

thxs for the info guys. Yea i've tried retuning myhead over and over again, i played with the snare wires, top n btm head. It certainly helped improve the sound. But my snare doesn't produce a decent sound.

Are u still using de stock heads? Cuz using de stock heads n thos 'higher end' heads really does makes a lot of diff. Dont condemned ur snare so soon lah. haha. Even with higher end heads u might nt get de sound u want yet, u hav to experiment with diff kind of heads. I changed my heads a few times b4 gettin de sound i want too. Good luck bro!

noted with thxs. Hope i'll find a head that i like.

yea. dun condemn the snare. every snare has a very different unique sound for dinner situations some songs need higher pitched snares or need a tighter sound. hope you get a good head soon and make your snare sing. get the evans reverse dot. yea.

Ranking Sports & Music, 3rd Floor Bras Basah Complex sells Evans.

Sport stuff and Musical Instruments in the same store?!! what is the world coming too?!

What kind of snare are you using? what is it made of?
Try as many different tuning methods and styles as you can until you find something that feels good to you. Sadly you just gotta practice like anything else

if you feel game, you could try seating the snare side with a heat gun. Sounds great if you do it properly. I'm always a bit scared of burning stuff

As Composer of Requiems said don't forget the good old wallet trick.

Got my new heads already. I don't know if its stupid, but i bought remo for the top head and evans for the bottom. It sounds great anyway. Powerstrike 3 for remo n hazy300 for evans.

Grats! Haha this combination is quite popular I think. PS3 batter head (top head) is common, and hazy300 is often used for the reso head (bottom head). There's no reason why you can't get different brands for the top and bottom. It's just convenience lah, since most shops only sell one brand, so just need to go to one shop to get both the batter and reso.
