Leonard Soosay will now twiddle his knobs at Kaki Bukit instead of Keong Saik.
HEY there musos, don’t be surprised if you head to Keong Saik Road and find Snakeweed Studios gone. Yup, the popular recording studio has moved out of Chinatown and gone eastwards – right into the industrial heart of Kaki Bukit. So now you can have your car overhauled while you record your next musical masterpiece.
The main reason for the move, said king snake Leonard Soosay, is space. The new studio is two times larger and has two studios. “This means we can separate jobs and be more productive and finish jobs faster,” he told us. The plus point: You won’t have to wait so long to book a slot for your recording, and you can hear the results faster.
But everything isn’t going off with a big bang as yet. “We’ll expand as we go along… probably invest in more equipment, and hopefully we can improve our sound and make local bands sound even better,” said Leonard.
But moving during the Hungry Ghost month? Ghosts and spirits don’t bug Leonard apparently. “It was during the Hungry Ghost month that we decided to move to Chinatown the first time,” he said. He may have a point: Since that move nine years ago, Snakeweed has become one of the most sought-after studios in Singapore.
Snakeweed is now located at 61 Kaki Bukit Ave 1, #04-14. Those who want to book the studio can get in touch with Leonard via his Facebook page.
